Meet Louis Lucas of Balloon Decor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Louis Lucas.

Louis, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a former dancer, singer and musician I’m always open to discovering new ways to express myself. On January 25, 2015, I celebrated my 23rd birthday celebration. I remember wanting something very unique and special to add to the celebration. All I could think about was BALLOONS! Nothing but BALLOONS, so I started researching balloon companies in my area, and I came across a balloon company here in Houston.

I was so intrigued by what I saw, I wanted to give it a shot for myself. When I made the decision that day I had no idea what God had planned for me. In the beginning it was very hard trying to get people to understand what exactly I was trying to do. I was talked about A-LOT and there were many times I wanted to quit because of the fear of failing, but I soon was reminded that what God has for you IS FOR YOU!

As I continue my journey as a Balloonologist. I am always studying new techniques and trying to come up with the next best thing. I have grown expeditiously over the past three years, and I’m always excited about new opportunities and who’s heart I’m going to lift up next. Coming from the performance world of music theater, I have always enjoyed making people happy through art. Balloons give me that SAME feeling when I get to see the look on my clients faces every time I get to build a masterpiece. My mission is “Lifting up spirits one balloon at a time!” I stand by this mission and will continue to grow in this unsual gift God has given me.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t always been easy. I had a lot to learn about the balloon industry. Believe it or not, but there’s a Balloon College! Yes, a balloon College! Although, I couldn’t financially attend at the time I still took online courses to expand my work and technique. There is always something new to learn in this industry. I struggled many times fighting to be accepted by friends and family, but I have managed to conquer most of my downfalls and setbacks.

Balloon Decor is dedicated to lifting up spirits one balloon at a time. We are one of the few companies in our city that build some of the largest balloon landscapes in the city of Houston. We specialize in balloon art and large balloon landscapes and sculptures. With our creative ability to bring art to life using nothing but 100% balloons is what sets us apart from other artists and decorators. People want to see and experience something different, and I believe we give them just THAT!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I have nothing but LOVE for this great city! I love that Houston is a place of diversity.
