Today we’d like to introduce you to Dereon Kelly.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have a Livestream Video production company. I saturated it in 2015 after I was released from federal prison for a crime I truly never committed. During my sentencing phase, the judge stated he could have held the officer that testified against me from Brazos County Sheriffs Department in court in contempt of court for giving out misleading,untruthful and illegal information but chose not to. He also said that could’ve resulted in the chargers being dismissed against me. He stated that he knew the agent gave “illegal” testimony. It hurt me inside. After doing three years and being released, I worked for a weight loss company in SW Houston. During that time, I decided that I no longer wanted to work for anyone and I wanted to start a business. Instead of buying a car, I rode the bus for a year saving money to start my own business after receiving guidance from a business partner.
Shortly after that, my mother passed away. I wanted to pay tribute to her and that’s where LuTech Media was birthed. My mother’s name is Lula. I wanted to show that though I may have went through something in life that that didn’t have to define who I am as a person. So with LuTech Media, I got to show that I’m a positive person. I live stream weddings, funerals, religious services, business events and sports. I have contracts with several schools across the state of Texas to broadcast their sporting events. Growing up in Bryan college station most people ended up going to prison in my neighborhood . When they got out, they re-offended and went back. I had to make sure that wasn’t me. So with LuTech, I give people the opportunity to express themselves globally. I am currently the #1 independent black owned Livestream company in Houston. My website has been visited more than any other independent Livestream website in America in September.
Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely has not been a smooth road I went to prison, went through a miscarriage with an ex, lost my mother and was back in forth to the doctor with brain lesions and most recently began treatment.

I specialize in Livestream I’m mostly known for sporting events. Football, baseball, basketball volleyball, soccer and track. I’m most proud that I’m a black-owned business that’s thriving.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity about Houston and that people are open-minded and not judgmental . I dislike the traffic and the fact that we get flooding.
