Meet Lutricia Harrison of NPC Family Health Clinic in North

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lutricia Harrison.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my clinic almost 12 years ago. I have always helped others and I wanted to offer healthcare to patients who may not have access to quality healthcare based upon the community they live in or their lack of confidence in the providers. After a lot of prayer and talking it over with my husband and a close family member, we made the discussion to take the leap of faith and open the clinic. We have been blessed in this clinic since the first day we opened. The very first day we opened a patient walked in needing service. This was confirmation that I was doing the right thing. The success of the clinic is because of the patients. They are the best promoters that we can ask for in a business. The patients recommend us to their families, friends and love ones. We initially sent outdoor hangs and other marketing items to the local homes in the area. We offer an environment that is both welcoming and family-friendly.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Has the road been smooth? No, it has not been an easy process. The biggest obstacle was fear and having to trust God in this process and stop being afraid to try something new. The initial challenges were the credentialing process with the insurance companies. The process to be placed on an insurance company roster is tedious and can be very stressful. Additionally, learning how to get reimbursed from the insurance companies was also a hard process. We did not receive any funding, so the financing of the business was difficulty and required a lot of sacrifice from my husband and myself. We worked hard to ensure that my dream could become a reality. There were many days we questioned whether or not we should continue. We knew our faith in God was greater than the amount of money in the bank so we trusted God more than our finances. We knew that this was a calling so we had to complete the process.

NPC Family Health Clinic – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
NPC Family Health Clinic is a company that I started to provide quality care to patients who are low income. These patients can not afford to pay the expensive cost of healthcare but they deserve quality care. We are a family practice office. We see all patients from birth to death… I am most proud of the care provided to the patients here at the clinic. The clinic is known for the holistic care we give. We take care of the whole patient- mind, body and spirit. Any given day, you will see someone in the office going above the call of duty to ensure the needs of the patients are met. Our patients feel very comfortable and empowered at the clinic. They feel very safe with allowing me to take care of their healthcare needs. Most of the patients feel like we are their family. They are open and honest with me. We are set apart from other providers because the patients can feel the compassion displayed by everyone in the office. They are greeted with love and concern from their first encounter. They are touched with love from the time they enter the office until they leave their visit.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is the joy of me knowing I have done my very best for the patients. I am most excited to see them improve in their health and taking ownership of their health. It is not about finances necessarily, but about the ability to live in peace knowing I am walking in my God-given destiny.

Very proud of you! Wishing you much success with your business, and more importantly, helping those that are less fortunate, unable to get quality care.
