Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeleine Biscocho.
Madeleine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I guess one could say that Beyond Beauty Esthetics began in the heart of a seven years old little girl. It was at that age that I began to find, what at the time was my definition of “beauty”, in things that no one else paid much attention to: the squint in a person’s smile when they laughed, or the furrowed lines between someone’s brows when they were deep in thought. As years went by, my eyes and my heart connected and I developed such a love for all the different shapes, angles, and even sounds of beauty.
Being Filipino, it was in the stars for me to find my career path in the medical field. I always found such gratification and purpose in caring for others. After college, I spent six years of my life caring for Alzheimer patients. Eventually, I married and began building a family, which then became my main priority. My husband was a Marine, and I became a stay-at-home mom. I never lost my passion for finding or creating beauty in my surroundings, but my career definitely took a backseat.
Fast forward ten years, and I found myself 33 and feeling unsettled. After moving around the country as a Marine wife, we decided to set down roots here in Houston. I decided it was time to start a new chapter, and it just felt right to dive into the beauty industry! I enrolled myself into the Esthetics program at Ogle School and spent five months learning all that I could about skin. In those months, those 750 hours of school, I learned much more than I expected to. Not only did I learn about skin, but I learned so much about people, the importance of relationships, and most importantly, the power of touch.
Shortly after receiving my license, I began renting a studio in Olori Spa, and Beyond Beauty Esthetics was born. I had the privilege of being under the mentorship of Olori Spa’s owner and Licensed Esthetics Instructor, Kristen Triplitt. She not only instilled in me her vast knowledge of advanced skincare, but she taught me the value of being genuine in all that I say and do.
Has it been a smooth road?
The first six months of Beyond Beauty being open was one of the most challenging things I have ever faced in my 33 years of life! Bringing in new clients was such a struggle at first. I mean… who was gonna trust me with their face?!?!?! In the beginning, I had no pictures in my portfolio, and no one really knew the quality of my work. I handed out so many business cards, and made a ton of flyers, to no avail. I almost shut the business down and considered going to work for a med spa. But as things like this usually goes, I approached my marketing situation from a different angle. This is when “BB Beauties” was born. I decided to make brand ambassadors for Beyond Beauty and nicknamed them my BB Beauties. I reach out to all the bloggers here in Houston and asked them to come in and tell their followers about their experience at Beyond Beauty. And in full blogger fashion, they all recorded during their treatments and posted it on social media… Instagram being the main outlet. Soon, bloggers from all over Houston had a picture of their name on my “Welcome BB Beauty” sign on their Instagram stories. Soon after that, their followers were all booking appointments! Now when new clients come in, they say, “It’s finally my turn to have my name on your sign!” That makes my heart so happy.

Beyond Beauty specializes in advanced skincare treatments: Hydrafacials, Dermalinfusions, Microchanneling with Stem Cells, etc.
Beyond Beauty Esthetics is about to turn one year old on Sept 24th, and I could not be more proud of everything it stands for. At Beyond Beauty, there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to skincare. Every treatment is customized, and our goal is always YOUR best skin. I take the time to greet each client with their name on my “Welcome BB Beauty” sign, which has become my trademark. Everyone knows to expect their name on that sign, and it gives them a sense of comfort, knowing that for the next hour, they are in their “safe space”. I continue to hone my skills as a metaphorical “therapist, chemist, priest for confession” and a literal skincare specialist. When my clients lay down on my spa bed, they know that they can rely on my complete honestly, with my intention to always add value to their lives. My clients know that they are free to vent, nap, cry, laugh, and everything in between when they come in for their facials.
In the thousands of hours I have spent doing advanced treatments, in order to improve and heal skin, my hope is that I have also helped to heal some hearts and minds.
There are so many spas here in Houston, and tens of thousands of faces. My mindset on this matter is that as long as you’re going to an esthetician for your monthly facials, I’m glad. You don’t have to come to me, as long as you’re going to a licensed skin care specialist!! But if you do decide to come to me, just know that my goal is your best skin. I will always be honest while still being kind, and I will provide you a space in which you can feel safe in your vulnerability. Having no makeup on, and letting someone else see your skin under a lit up magnifying lamp gives you such a “naked” feeling. I hope that in my spa room, all my clients feel a sense of safety and trust. I can’t speak for how other spas are run, but I know that at Beyond Beauty, we take this aspect of every visit, very seriously, and I am always humbled by each client’s choice to come back month after month.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
OMG, can we just talk about Houston’s energy for a moment!?!?!??! This is the BEST city I have ever lived in, and that’s saying a lot because I’m practically a nomad due to the Marine Corps moving our family every two years! I have lived in LA, San Diego, Oceanside, Sacramento, Las Vegas… you name it, I’ve probably lived there! But in Houston, I have felt an unmatched sense of belonging, and love. Talk about WOMEN EMPOWERMENT!! There are groups and groups of women whose sole purpose is to uplift, and support each other in entrepreneurship, motherhood, YOU NAME IT! Houston Boss Babes is one of those groups, and I cannot applaud its founder, Rebekah Guzman, enough! She makes it her life’s work to shout-out different small business owners, bloggers, and other like-minded women! Rebekah and so many other women here in Houston are the reasons why Houston exudes positivity and light!
What I like least… lol, sometimes the weather takes me for a loop, but I’m just gonna take that as a challenge to be more prepared!
