Mahogany, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My journey started as a young country girl who grew up in Louisiana. Being picked on as a child for not having long, straight, beautiful hair. I wasn’t considered beautiful enough to my peers because I didn’t have long, pretty hair & being a little, dark skinned girl, made it worse. As I got older and started experimenting with different types of hair extensions, it made me feel beautiful. It brought out a feeling that made me feel as if I was the prettiest woman in the world. It allowed me to become whoever I wanted to be, and gave me that confidence I needed as a young woman to feel beautiful and fierce. I knew at that very moment I wanted to be able to provide extensions to women across the world who went through what I went through. I wanted to provide this experience to women who needed a boost to bring out that self-confidence within themselves. Even if that meant adding a few extensions into your hair to complete your look. Being a single mother, trying to balance my business and also work a full time job is extremely hard work. My three beautiful daughters motivate me to keep pushing and working hard towards my business. As a new business owner growing my business can be a bit challenging. With so much competition in the hair industry, my goal is to continue to strive for the best. I plan to show the world why Sauvage’ Extensions will be the best choice for any woman’s hair need!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not! I have stumbled across many obstacles along the way. The first obstacle will be managing my time. In between trying to balance being a single mom, work a full time job, and run a business takes a lot of time and work. The second obstacle I would say is marketing. Marketing your business can be extremely challenging. It takes a lot of brain storming and research to learn the correct ways to market your business. And lastly, I would say keeping the customer’s attention, making them feel why you’re a perfect choice instead of the competitor.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have possibly invested more money into my business. I also would’ve followed my first mind on deciding for my business.
