Today we’d like to introduce you to Marc Boucher.
Marc started his career in architecture over 40 years ago, and worked for a number of architects in Houston; and collaborated with some world-renowned architects such as Renzo Piano. Ultimately finding his niche as a designer and site planner, Marc established himself as one of the go-to people for commercial retail developments among developers in the Houston market. After the economic downturn, he was fortunate to be able to start his company Boucher Design Group in 2013 with the help of a handful of amazing employees. Marc’s focus has always been on serving other; clients and employees with an “others first,” mentality. Boucher Design Group has been blessed to be able to continue to the relationships with clients that Marc has established over the years, and is the reason for their growing success.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, certainly not. Architecture is always subject to economic cycles, which influences our work and firm. There certainly have been some lean times along the way, but you get through those by forging great relationships with those around you and leaning on your faith. There have also been many advancements in technology and the workforce that force you to adapt and change, which is sometimes uncomfortable, but always beneficial.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Boucher Design Group – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our clients come to us for quality design for their commercial architecture developments. Being able to deliver a beautiful product always starts with a great piece of land and a vision from the client for what’s possible. From there, we develop site plans that work efficiently and design how the building looks and feels. We are most proud of the people we have in the office working with us. This is a people business first, if you love what you do and who you are working with, you can be a success in anything. Our firm has a fantastic mix of the millennial generation with energy, ideas and vision that is tempered with the experience, resolve, and practicality of an older generation. Those two groups create a positive vibe in the office and give us a foundation which allows us to create some really special solutions for our clients.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The firm will continue to grow and hopefully diversify the types of projects we can call ourselves “experts,” in. We want to continue to build our brand recognition that is synonymous with quality work. As for me, I will probably never truly “retire,” in the traditional sense, but will continue to be involved in architecture/development in some capacity.
