Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcela Osuna.
Marcela, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was originally from Mexico and therefore, I have a deep love for the culture and people of Mexico. When I was a child, I remember watching in awe as my mother and grandmother made clothes for the family. I will never forget how happy it made them share their gift with those they loved dearly. When they were making clothes, they would teach us how to make clothes for our dolls. You could say, this business is in my blood.
I gain inspiration for my designs from the beauty and love that surrounds us. My two beautiful daughters, Susana and Maria are the light of my life and bring me such joy. They inspire me each and every day.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When you love what you do, no road is hard, they are long hours of work behind each creation but the satisfaction of the client is our best reward.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about SUMA – what should we know?
SUMA is an online store with bases in Houston, TX, where you can find special occasion clothes for children, as christening gowns, first communion dress, handmade baby clothes, flower girl dresses.
SUMA is so much more than a clothing store but it is a way to help make the world a better place. It is all about supporting fellow artists and being blessed with the opportunity to share their beautiful designs with the world. When buying an item from our shop, you help our artisans support their families as they lovingly pass their talent down from generation to generation.
SUMA features my designs that are handmade with care and love in Mexico by skilled artisans. I love discovering talented artists that truly deserve to be in the spotlight. These artists can take my designs and breathe life into them.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My husband, Pedro Narvaez, who is the one that constantly supports me and was the first that believe and love SUMA project.
