Today we’d like to introduce you to Margaret Goebel.
Margaret, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Since graduating from Johns Hopkins University in 1999 as a Nurse Practitioner, I have worked in a variety of settings from Plastic Surgery to Indigent Care, including Director of Weight Loss Services in a Medical Spa located in Boston, MA. With this experience, a passion for aesthetics and a belief that helping people feel their best is a part of one’s health, I decided to open Amici Aesthetics. At Amici Aesthetics, our first question is always “what is bothering you” so we can determine a plan of care that focuses on the client and addresses their primary needs.
At Amici Aesthetics, our focus is relationship. We strive to have our clients feel comfortable and enjoy their experience. This is why the word Amici was chosen to be a part of our name. Amici means ‘friends’ in Italian. Our laser procedures include treatments for sun damage, tattoo removal, skin resurfacing and laser face lift. We offer body contouring services with the newest ultrasound technology, and a full range of injectable services including the Beyond Blood PRP Facial and FaceLift and Allergan Products such as Botox, Juvederm and Kybella.
Has it been a smooth road?
Is starting a business ever a smooth road?! LOL! It has been difficult at times. I am so fortunate to have a supportive husband and family to help me along this journey and keep me sane in the process! My husband handles much of the financial aspects of the business leaving me able to focus 100% on the client and services offered. I think the most difficult aspect has been staying focused on goals and the long-term plan while not getting distracted by outside influences.

At Amici Aesthetics, my focus is the client and their results. No treatment is too small or insignificant and the focus is always what they are looking to improve. I tell people we can’t make you look 20 years younger, but we can make you look great for your age. This is really what we do best and they appreciate our approach. We often hear from our client’s other facilities they have visited in the past will promise unrealistic results and will recommend thousands of dollars of treatments without ever addressing what is truly bothering them.
For our facility, the decision was made to purchase Alma Laser’s equipment due to the consistency, longevity and the reported results from their laser technology. The ClearLift Laser FaceLift is one of my favorite laser treatments because it stimulates collagen painlessly without downtime and the results we have seen are just remarkable. This treatment is ideal for the older client, is safe to use on the neck area and can be completed during a person’s lunch break. I also use a variety of injectable, but I have always loved the Juvederm products for fillers. The results can be dramatic and clients have been very happy with their outcomes. Injectable treatment requires the appropriate training, but is also an art. It takes the right person to identify the deficit that needs filling, and to inject the appropriate sites to get the most lasting and natural result.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Houston is a great place for the aesthetics’ industry! People in Texas are concerned about their appearance and are always wanting to look their best.
If someone were just starting out, I would definitely recommend Houston. The people are amazing and there are many opportunities no matter what business you are considering starting.
