Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Lee.
Hi Mark, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my career as a pharmacist, and while I enjoyed helping people, I was always curious about investing and financial freedom. When I began learning about different types of investments, real estate stood out because it offered strategy, hands-on impact, and the opportunity to genuinely help others.
Early on, I learned from mentors and masterminds, slowly taking on my own projects. As I started renovating and improving properties, I discovered something even more meaningful: I could step in for sellers who were dealing with stressful situations and needed a fast, simple, and respectful way to move forward. Being able to give homeowners clarity, options, and peace of mind became the reason I kept growing in this business.
Over time, the most rewarding part has been seeing how these solutions help real families get out from under burdens, avoid difficult financial outcomes, or simply move on with their lives without the headaches of a traditional sale. And none of this would be possible without the team around me — a group of people dedicated to doing the right thing, treating sellers with honesty, and making sure every step of the process feels smooth and supportive.
Today, with that team by my side and the growth and challenges we’ve overcome, we focus on creating real, win-win outcomes: helping sellers find the relief they need while improving communities one home at a time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The path definitely wasn’t smooth. In the early stages, juggling my full-time job while trying to learn real estate and handle my first deals felt overwhelming. I had to become extremely disciplined with my time — late nights, early mornings, and any spare moment were spent studying, building connections, and tackling projects.
Launching a business came with its own set of realities that no book fully prepares you for. Real estate requires much more than theory: you have to read markets, evaluate risk, create relationships, and stay focused even when things don’t go as planned. I also had to learn how to connect with sellers from all walks of life, each dealing with their own unique problems. Those conversations taught me to listen deeply and approach every situation with empathy and flexibility.
And on the renovation side, every property was like a new lesson. Different repairs, unexpected issues, shifting timelines, and the constant challenge of coordinating contractors kept me on my toes. But those experiences forced me to adapt, refine my processes, and grow in ways I never expected. In hindsight, every obstacle was a stepping stone that shaped me both personally and professionally.
We’ve been impressed with Absolute Properties, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our business focuses on helping homeowners sell quickly, for cash, and completely as-is — without the headaches of repairs, showings, or long delays. Whether someone is navigating an inheritance, facing foreclosure, going through a divorce, dealing with difficult tenants, or running into title complications, we offer a straightforward solution that lets them move forward with peace of mind.
What makes us different is that we’re truly local. Our team lives and works in the same neighborhoods we buy in, so we understand the market on a personal level — and we understand the people. We take the time to listen, stay flexible, and craft a plan that fits each seller’s unique situation instead of pushing a standard, one-size-fits-all offer.
Beyond purchasing homes, we also invest in renovating and revitalizing properties. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch these houses transform and add new value to the surrounding community.
As a brand, we’re especially proud of the systems we’ve built to make the entire process fast, clear, and stress-free. Our mission is simple: to give homeowners an easy, dependable way to sell — even in tough circumstances — while continuing to uplift the neighborhoods we serve.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
When it comes to risk, I’ve always believed in taking calculated risks — not jumping blindly, but making informed decisions that move me toward long-term goals. I don’t see myself as someone who gambles; instead, I focus on understanding the downside, preparing for it, and then committing fully once I’m confident in the direction.
One of the biggest risks I ever took was stepping into real estate while still working full-time as a pharmacist. I was entering an industry that was completely new to me, and balancing both worlds was incredibly demanding. There was no guarantee that the time, money, and energy I poured into learning, networking, and buying my first properties would pay off. But I believed that creating financial freedom and helping people through real estate was worth pursuing, so I took the leap — carefully, but fully.
Another major risk was simply getting into the business of helping sellers in difficult situations. Every homeowner has a unique story, and every property comes with unknowns. Buying houses as-is means you have to be comfortable with surprises — unexpected repairs, title issues, delayed timelines — and that requires both confidence and adaptability. But over time, I learned that those risks also create opportunities to provide real value to people who need fast, reliable solutions.
Today, I think of risk as something to be respected, not feared. The goal isn’t to avoid it — it’s to understand it, prepare for it, and surround yourself with a strong team so you’re never facing it alone. Taking those early risks taught me how to think strategically, stay resilient, and create systems that keep the business stable even when challenges come up.
In the end, the biggest rewards in my career so far have come from the risks that pushed me to grow — personally, and professionally.
