Meet Martha Rodriguez of White Meringue

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martha Rodriguez.

Hi Martha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, first of all thank you so much for making me part of this amazing series.

I’m Martha Rodriguez baker and owner of White Meringue.

I grew up seeing and helping my mother baking cakes for our birthdays, making cookies for the Holidays, cakes for family celebrations, etc.

Suddenly, I became the go-to person for desserts with my friends and coworkers. Whether it was a work potluck, project completion get-together, birthdays or holidays, I was always the one that would bring sweetness to any celebration.

At the end of my contract as a Consultant for a corporate company, I decided to take that leap of faith and pursue dessert making a full-time job.

In early 2020, I launched White Meringue with the mission to give our customers a unique experience through every bite. As you devour our unique and gourmet sweets, I want you to be able to feel like your favorite aunt, cousin, friend or loved one made it just for you.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I launched White Meringue on Feb. 5th, 2020. 1 month later, we are in lockdown in the middle of a pandemia that was supposed to last 2 weeks.

With all the uncertainty I stayed with the original plan and did all the marketing planned.

It was not easy having to divide my time with my daughter (daycares were closed), business and home, but we made it and still here.

My husband has always been my biggest support and thanks a lot to him is that I can still make this dream coming true.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
White Meringue is a Home Artisan Bakery in Houston. It is inspired in the unique flavors and desserts from my hometown, Monterrey, Mexico.

I proudly make everything from scratch with quality ingredients that are locally sourced to ensure you get to experience those rich and sweet flavors that made us fall in love with this craft.

The dessert that started it all was the infamous Mostachon (Meringue Cake) which originated in my hometown.

A Mostachon (Meringue Cake) has a crisp base of meringue mixed with crackers and pecans.

When you taste our desserts, you may not see the person behind it; but I know that the love, the homemade flavors and the iconic White Meringue will speak for themselves.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I love IT and traveling!

Something that not so many people from the industry or clients know is that, I have a bachelor’s in IT Management specialized in Business Intelligence. Certified in Knowledge Management and ITIL. Worked as a Consultant for 10years gave me the opportunity to travel and visit different countries.

And yes, I try desserts everywhere I go.
