Today we’d like to introduce you to Marya Sokha.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I came to the US from Cambodia in 2000. I used to live in Pennsylvania, Louisiana and now Texas. I went to the University of Texas at Austin. I used to be a Financial Consultant with John M Floyd & Associates. I’ve worked in the finance industry for the past 7 years. Recently I just joined The Loken Group as a Realtor training to be a Listing Agent. I am a full-time Realtor. In addition, I am also a freelance model/blogger. I also take pole fitness at Inner Me Studio. I enjoy meeting new people, drinking coffee, volunteer in my community and help others. I am in a TLG Gives Committee with The Loken Group. TLG GIVES MISSION is to enrich the lives of deserving families and individuals in the Greater Houston Area in times of need.
Please tell us about your art.
I am a freelance model work with many different photographers throughout Houston area. I enjoy meeting people and learn about the photography community. I just recently dipped my toes into blogging. My goals are to meet and build relationship with people, promote positivity and help with the Houston Community.
Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
Be active on social media, networking and be nice. You can get a lot of TFP (trade for print) shoots with a lot of photographers and also other partnership.
