Meet Mater Ashu of Mother’s Help Foundation and Living Waters International Ministries

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mater Ashu.

Hi Mater, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
So much has happened in my life that has groomed me into the woman I am today.
I am a servant of God with the prophetic calling. My journey started when I was only 8 years old. I remember following my parents to some spiritual retreats and I would fast 6-6 with them and have no food or water for 12 hours. I used to see visions while in church and I would tell my mom all about them. I didnt really understand the reason behind all the encounters I was having and my parents didn’t know any better.
One time I was reciting the rosary and I saw a vision of a white dove descending from above behind me and landed on my Right shoulder. Another day , I had a dream where a very tall man who was as white as snow came out of a coffin and people began to run away thinking He was dead. But He was alive. Everyone ran away including me but it seemed this “snowman” whom I now know as Jesus was interested in one person- me. I continued to run away with everybody else but with just a few steps , the “snowman” was able to catch up with me. Just one of His steps covered miles in distance. He caught up with me and then by His divine power lifted me off the ground and I was flying around in a circle at His head level . Then He spoke these words which I will never forget “My Chosen One”.
I shared these encounters and many others with my mom but she didnt know any better so we did nothing about it.
During those days, I prayed alot but it was more like a routine for me, I didnt understand the value or significance of what i was doing. I remember praying over water which I gave my younger brother to drink and my brother who had taken medicine for fever but didnt respond to it, got healed instantly after drinking the water I blessed. I still didnt take those things seriously.

Years went by and I kind of lost that intimacy with God. It might have been youthful exuberance , I dont know lol.
The turning point came when I got married 11 years ago to my husband and he took me to his church, a pentecostal church. He noticed I could sing so he started pushing me to sing special numbers in church and the pastor there gave me a platform to use my gift but I was kinda timid then so …lol
The big transformation happened when God sent a powerful Woman of God, Apostle Queen Belema Abili, my spiritual mother came my way on Facebook. She is very anointed and on fire for God. She preaches holiness without sugar-coating, she loves God with all her heart and preaches the same. The hallmark of her ministry is OBEDIENCE to God. I got hooked to her videos and as I continued to watch, I fell in love with God,Jesus and the Holy Spirit also. It was then that I began to understand what God had been trying to do in my life for many years. Apostle Queen Belema of School of Power preaches online almost every day and through her daily ministrations, I grew in the spirit, I started praying long hours but it would feel like its not enough. I became bolder, confident, dedicated and a fierce soldier of Christ. As I continued to spend more and more time with God , I began to hear Him speak to me, I began to read my bible more, fast more and I continued to grow in the spirit , having dreams and encounters.
I soon realized God had a call upon my life and in December of 2018, I gave God my complete “YES” and God began to use me . I did worship programs and prayer programs and the presence of God was evident. I began to preach online as well and people were blessed and had testimonies. Years later, we moved to Houston Texas, by the leading of the Holy Spirit and God has since broadened the scope of my ministry. I now have a passion for helping and supporting mothers and children with essential baby needs. I started a foundation -Mother’s Help Foundation and we have been a blessing to many in Houston and other states and countries since 2020.
As I continued to follow my mother in Christ,Apostle Queen Belema Abili, we did some rigorous spiritual exercises including fasting. The hardest I completed was a 7 days dey fasting -no food at all for a whole days. It was during one of her fasts that I had another encounter and I was called a prophetess. Since then, I became known as prophetess Mater.
My journey with God has been one of self discovery, faith, trust and obedience. A few years ago, God also led me to start a church -Living Waters International Ministries here in North Houston. I have continued to serve God and obey His leading to carry out projects and reach out to many in the community and abroad with the word of God, counseling for marriage and assisting families and the homeless with essential needs. I believe God still has a lot in store for me and I want to be ready, available and able to do everything He requires of me. I feel like God is playing catch up with me for all the years I wandered off, He is making me work twice as hard to catch up…lol

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To say its been a smooth ride, would be a fatal lie. Just like with every great story, there is always a process.
God teaches us there is no glory without a story, there is no triumph without a trial and there is no victory without a battle. In fact, these obstacles we face give God the opportunity to demonstrate and reveal His power and glory in our lives.
I have faced all kinds of obstacles I dont know if I can mention them all here…wheew.
I still face obstacles within my family ,in my marriage, with financial constraints, visibility, trustworthiness, growth and all that. Some of my closest family still have not come to terms with the fact that God has a call on my life and my life just can’t be like everybody else’s. It has also created a lot of tension, conflicts and misunderstanding in my marriage especially when all I want is to just obey God to do those difficult assignments by faith. People don’t understand what it means to obey God. Obedience means to do His will whether it is comfortable, convenient, makes sense or not. Most times, we only realize the WHY after the act of OBEDIENCE. But alot of people are not cut out for this level of devotion to God. People want to be comfortable and I get it. But because I hear God, and I have been trained to obey God , I am not able to consciously or willingly disobey Him. This has caused alot of conflicts here and there and financial difficulties with running our home and the church at the same time while raising 4 kids.
Another obstacle is with waiting on God’s perfect time. It will interest you to know that God has promised me blessings, a big shift and increased visibility in this month of September 2025. When I received your email asking me to share my story on such a huge platform, I was like “Look At God”
Won’t He do it?
Waiting on the fulfillment of God’s promises is challenging, but it is completely worth it in the end. But trust me the waiting season will test every fiber of your being. I continue to pray for strength and grace for the process. I am coming out in this season.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am the Founder of Mother’s Help Foundation , we assist struggling moms in the community with diapers, wipes, formula and many other essential needs. We sometimes receive donations of new and used clothes, diapers, wipes, baby bottles, formula which we offer to our participants FREE of charge . We only ask that they get to hear about this Jesus that we preach about. Before offering them free benefits, we preach briefly to them about Jesus the Light of the world, the Bread of life and the provider. The one who supplies our needs on a daily basis and can never run out of supply. We teach them to have a relationship with God and go to Him for everything they need in life that He is able to heal broken hearts, restore broken homes and transform their lives for the better. We teach them its never too late to call on Jesus to right the wrongs of the past and fix the mess .
We also pray for them and sometimes, some of these ladies break down in tears over the phone or in person expressing gratitude stating “I really needed that” while others receive a big deliverance from evil spirits that have held them back in life. We also invite these families to fellowship with us on Sundays and continue to grow their faith and spiritual life. Some do come back and feel empowered, enriched and renewed. Some are able to find jobs after their encounter with us , while others are able to start working on their own visions or dreams. I remember doing a big deliverance on a single mom who had come for assistance with diapers and wipes. I prayed for her in the process of counseling and her spirit was ready to be free. She coughed out and vomited alot that day. That was the process of her deliverance. Jesus did it, not me. I didn’t pray that much at all. Lol . Jesus did all of it. Weeks and now years later, she is doing great and has now started her dream business of being a wellness coach. She no longer needs assistance with diapers and is financially stable now with her kids. This is what we do : transform lives by meeting small , basic needs with the touch of the Holy Spirit who is The Deliverer. Our goal is not to leave any one the same way we met them. Every prayer and every free gift we offer is a point of contact for God to perform the miracle of restoration in the lives of people we meet . I also officiate weddings as part of my calling to intercede and counsel marriages facing crisis. God has recently taught me to adopt the agile and scrum approach to marriage counseling to improve the fruitfulness and productivity of marriage to achieve the stakeholder’s (God’s) desired plan and goals for our marriages.
I have counseled marriages for about 4 years now, and I have seen marriages prevail against odds with some wisdom and prayers.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me at this point is making heaven proud, to see lives transformed, to hear testimonies of the wonder working power of God restoring many destinies as I continue to serve with passion and dedication.

Some day, I would love to have God pat me on the back and say “Well done, good and faithful servant”
It may cost me alot of my comfort, it may mean putting a lot of my personal ambitions on hold, but for His glory I will do anything. I want the people I serve to be able to see and encounter the love, goodness and power of Jesus through me and I am doing the best within my ability to make that happen.
