Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Mouro.
Matthew, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Last summer, two friends and I decided to develop a platform to help young athletes advance in their academics, football IQ, skills, speed, techniques, and overall understanding of what it takes to earn an athletic scholarship.
We have had monthly free camps, are in the process of add specific technologies to the game to develop higher IQ’s, and having private lessons that range from all football positions and even branching out to boxing and soccer lessons. We are going to have tryouts February 24th and March 3rd for our select team and also looking to start a 7 on 7 football league.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As a grassroots movement, our group has had to deal with some adversity. For starters, we all have children. It is complicated at times to meet and get things done from putting up signs for advertisement to being able to meet on a constant basis. We are all also physical education teachers and coach three different sports in three different seasons.
We find time through WhatsApp, email & weekly phone conferences just to discuss specific strategies to help move Aerial Assault forward. We continuously adapt to any and all situations.
Please tell us about Aerial Assault Football.
We are looking to develop a platform that will assist student-athletes to have the opportunity to advance in their academics and athletics. We believe that the student comes before the athlete in “student-athlete” and want to make sure we instill the importance of a solid education which will allow for a brighter future.
Each team that is associated with AerialAssaultFootball.com will have each student-athlete turn in grade reports biweekly. This will help to have another positive influence (their coach who has played or coached and a higher level and understands the importance of an education) on the child and help carve a path to a better education.
We want to introduce a filming system called Hudl. We will film games and have each team have a minimum of a one-hour video session a week. This will help with understanding, route running, formations, defensive coverages, timing, tendencies, developing individual highlight reel and much more!
Having these student-athletes understanding how to create their own film at an early age will allow these children create a film that they can give to college coaches across the country!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If we were to start over, we would take the same path. It is hard to determine true success when you haven’t failed.
The obstacles we faced has helped to collaborate, troubleshoot, handle pressure & adapt when needed. These obstacles has made our friendship stronger, our children have become close friends and we continuously are looking out for each other.
