Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Nicholas.
Matthew, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began my career in logistics during the summer of 2005 as an intern for a Fortune 500 company. Upon graduation from Sam Houston State University in 2006, I was offered a full-time position at that company. After several successful years in different roles such as dispatcher, account executive, and business development, I was given the opportunity to work with a smaller but very well established logistics firm as an outside sales representative. I later transitioned from the outside sales rep position into the role of strategic account management, handling several large accounts and projects for a number of companies in a variety of industries. After nearly five very rewarding years at that company, I was offered to work for a fantastic organization as a logistics manager which I did so for several years before starting Nico Logistics LLC.
Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t think the road is smooth for anybody starting their own business however, I am grateful and blessed to have valued clients and partnerships who believe in our company and the services we provide. I would not be in the position I am today without the valuable experience I obtained from my previous employers and mentors along the way.

Houston is a great city for anyone in the logistics industry….. With the Port of Houston in our backyard combined with the Oil and Gas industry and an overall strong economy, there are numerous opportunities for logistics/trucking companies in the area.
