Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Martinez.
Hi Megan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Megan’s POPtacular Balloons officially started in 2020. I previously owned an event planning business for several years but had to close it down when I fell ill. In 2020 I decided that I couldn’t stay away from the balloon business, and something sparked in me to rebrand and go for it again. It hasn’t been easy to regain customers and a following again but all I know is I love what I do and put so much work into it that God will supply. I have gained so many new clients and a lot of my day-one clients as well. I can’t thank everyone enough for all of the love and support.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been easy. The promoting part is where I struggle the most. I’m not very good at it. Social media is a lot and I’m learning as I go for sure. Being introduced to new clients and having them trust you is tricky, too. So, building a portfolio is a must. Learning how to price point everything is a whole new ball game, too. But I love meeting new people and seeing new places. The clients that really challenge my artist side are my absolute favorite. The bigger the setup, the more tips and tricks I learn about time management and prep.

I am a professional balloon artist/event planner. I specialize in balloon decor. I love everything about balloons. They really make a statement for parties and gatherings. They can turn an event from boring and drab to fabulous and alive. I put my own spin on any setup. Clients send me inspiration pictures and I put my own twist on it. I love big, bold, dramatic pieces. What sets me apart from others is that I pour my heart and soul into each setup. I plan and replan each one. And I do my absolute best to have your setup really wow you as you walk in the door.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Ask questions!!! Most important tip! Follow other people in your niche and comment on their videos. Direct message them with certain questions and just ask for help. Ask how they have grown if they have a big following. What would they would do different if they could start over? Create content. Watch videos in your niche and find out what kind of videos are getting the best views and responses, and do one like that.
