Today we’d like to introduce you to Meka Lewis.
Meka, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It started out as a plan to bartend for extra money back in 2003, so I enrolled in Bartending School. After working many, many long nights in Houston’s bars and clubs, I wanted to give up. Working in the Houston nightlife has its perks. But, it also has its cons. I no longer wanted to work under the pressures associated with the life. My mother had always told me to “work for yourself” “find something you like to do and make it yours”. Sixteen years since walking into that Bartending classroom, Here we are!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The initial challenge was to get people to trust us in order to get hired for our first private event as a business. I had been paying to promote on a popular site with no response. We didn’t have reviews, nor did we have pictures of our work. No one wanted to hire us! Our first client ever had their bartender cancel the day of their wedding. She desperately reached out to us and we NAILED IT! She left a positive review, shared our posts, and tipped us generously. This was the fuel we needed to keep going.

We are Private Event Bartenders and Wait Staff serving the Greater Houston Area and beyond.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I attribute success with Drive. You must have the determination to work harder than most and make sure things get done. I pride myself on seeing things getting completed and taking charge when necessary. You must drive yourself with purpose and align yourself with excellence.
