Today we’d like to introduce you to Melody McClain.
Melody, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After I was a Registered Nurse for over 20 years, I decided to go back to school to pursue a degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I became a NP because I wanted to help people. However, I noticed while in my clinical rotations, that the doctors were not successfully able to help the difficult patients. They didn’t know what to do with them, except prescribe a pill to mask their symptoms and then refer them to another specialist. This was also my case personally, with my husband. We had been to doctor after doctor, trying to find the root cause of his illness. After years of suffering, we finally saw a practitioner who used muscle testing to determine that my husband had major food sensitivities, plus further testing showed he suffered from Lyme disease. I was fascinated with this approach, and began my own quest to learn more about alternative and functional medicine! I then decided then upon graduation that I would not work in conventional medicine, but open my own functional medicine practice. Thus, Healing From Within was established in 2016.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has not been smooth. I tell everyone most of my learning came from the School of Hard Knocks! Many of my modalities in my clinic have been purchased because I knew that someone could benefit from their use. However, learning WHAT to incorporate WHEN was a huge learning experience. I began to spend all of my down time studying and learning. Functional medicine digs and gets to the root cause of disease. This process is not easy, and not cheap. Finally, after three years, I feel confident that I have everything I need in my practice to help those who need answers about their health!

Healing From Within was established by Melody McClain, FNP. “As a family nurse practitioner and pastor’s wife, it is my desire to help every patient achieve true healing from within – physically, mentally/emotionally, and spiritually. I work with each patient to develop a personalized regimen that focuses on each part of the puzzle piece that is missing in your health and wellness, and one by one, we will put those pieces together again.”
I feel that focusing on the patient as a whole set me apart from other practitioners. One of the favorite parts of my practices is Evox Perception Reframing. Emotional stress has a profound effect on our lives and on our physical bodies. Using the voice is the best way to determine what is happening emotionally. The production of your voice involves nearly the entire body – psychological and physical. Almost everyone has experienced trauma on some level. Another game changer that we offer at Healing From Within is Ozone and IV Therapy. I love to see the results our IV therapy gives our patients.
