Today we’d like to introduce you to Meosha Turner.
Meosha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always had a passion for art. Growing up in Minneapolis, MN, I was afforded opportunities to explore various forms of creativity. Prior to forming Berry Tipsy, most of my creative outlets had been expressive: dance, music, and acting; I had never created tangible art.
After college, I took a leap of faith and relocated to Houston, TX. Tasked with full-time adulting, my creative outlets took a back-burner. With corporate burnout fast on my heels, I decided to take another leap and start my own company. In 2016, Berry Tipsy was created to fulfill a need to cultivate creativity and independence.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a bumpy yet rewarding road. This is my first company so there was a learning curve from a business standpoint. Being a one woman show, I had to learn and fill every role. This was also my first time creating with my hands, and I needed practice! I remember how bad my first batch of strawberries turned out, I called them struggle berries. There were a lot of challenges, but also a lot of wins. Because it’s easy to get discouraged when first starting something new, I think it’s important to always capture the wins – no matter how small.
Tell us more about the business.
Berry Tipsy is a novelty confection bar with a focus on infused chocolate covered strawberries. We also make candied fruit, assorted chocolates, and other party themed treats such as, candy shot glasses and chocolate covered strawberry rose bouquets. What sets us apart is our attention to detail and desire to present and experience beauty in different forms. We create stunning chocolate covered strawberries for all occasions that taste as good as they look. Berry Tipsy helps start, and will keep any party going!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think there will always be a market for connoisseurs of chocolate, fruit, booze, and celebration. Berry Tipsy can meet one, or all of those demands!
