Meet Michael Baker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Baker.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Michael. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started practicing Yoga and studying Massage after having a head-on collision. My skull, including the left side of my body, had been crushed! Although Dr. Red Duke’s anticipated long and difficult recovery time, Yoga and physical therapy made the road to recovery possible. At that point, I decided to invest all my efforts into Massage and Yoga. Now it has been 20+ years and I’ve traveled the globe collecting the best of every culture and bringing it back home. I’ve turned my Pearland home into a spa where I teach and work on those who need healing. My specialty is pain: how people experience and perceive it, whether it be physical or emotional.

Has it been a smooth road?
Looking back, I have been doing Massage since I was a child. My struggles came when I attempted to force myself into professions that were not suited for me. Somehow I had it in my mind that to be successful was to make big money and that the job we chose was a form of enslavement we accepted in order to put food on the table. It was a great freedom to find that I could do what I felt I was always meant to do and still be successful!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Michael Baker Massage and Yoga Therapy – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I work with people who want to let go of their pain. I am known for approaching the roots of their pain through a form of body-centered therapy that looks at the connection of mind and body. I pay close attention to the feedback given by the nervous system and aim for a holistic healing.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I appreciate our Southern hospitality! I love how we can feel comfortable to connect with each other. If there is any kind of emergency strangers stop and help as if they were helping family. What I like least, I would easily say the triple digit temperatures in the Summer!

Pricing:

  • I ask for $80 – $100 for a Hour session. I often accept trades or Bartering.
