Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Hamilton.
Michele, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started bartending my sophomore year in college at a place that only served beer and wine, lol. I feel like that was a glorified serving job now looking back but, I loved it. I really enjoyed being around people and creating experiences. That desire only strengthened over time, and lead me to make the decision to turn my job into my career. I went full time, all in, and haven’t let up since!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Honestly, I feel like I’m still in the beginning stages of my journey. I’m still learning all classic cocktails, techniques, flavor pairings… all the stuff everyone wants you to know. One of the biggest struggles for me is self-doubt and letting my family down. Us bartenders work crazy hours, and that comes with sacrificing time with our loved ones. So, it’s making sure that time missed was worth it.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m probably known for a few things lol, but mostly making drinks. I’ve competed and won a few competitions last year. Those were some amazing moments! I’m most proud of being part of an amazing industry. The people I’ve met over the years have instilled so much light & love into my heart… they have poured out invaluable knowledge and experience that I’m forever grateful for.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
This pandemic has flipped the industry upside down, big time. While I’m itching to get back behind the stick, I can wait. I value the health of my staff and our guests, so what I’m looking forward to most is a safe return to work!!
As far as plans for the future? Just know I’m working hard! I can’t wait to share my vision with everyone.
