Meet Michelle Ngome of Line 25 Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Ngome.

Michelle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Well, what many don’t know is I stumbled into marketing in 2004. Houston hosted Superbowl XXXVIII, my friend worked with Arista Records/Sony Entertainment and they needed a street team crew. At the time I was thinking this will be a once and lifetime experience, so how can I say no. Next thing I knew, I spent four years freelancing in the entertainment industry doing traditional marketing and becoming an early adopter of social media (MySpace) and blogging (WordPress).

I left the entertainment world and did corporate finance for seven years. However, I would sporadically get called for gigs and turn them down. Actually, I was afraid to get back into marketing because so much had changed while I was away. I went back to school to obtain an M.S. in Internet Marketing from Full Sail University.

Line 25 Consulting started in 2013 to help small business owners understand the business of social media. Now the company has evolved into content and social media marketing, podcasting, and public speaking. We have been fortunate to work with some great companies along the way.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Most of my struggles came in the first year of business. I thought I did things right by having six months of expenses in savings, dialing for dollars and even landed a few clients. However, I had a problem with establishing solid processes and managing cash flow.

It was just a matter of time for Murphy’s Law to take effect. Got a web client, Internet cuts off. I started working out of Starbucks. Lost my apartment, I started working nights. I remember one time it rained all night and the floor of my car flooded, I lost all of my client’s notes and contact information. I was so embarrassed that first year. But it all worked out for the best.

Please tell us about Line 25 Consulting.
Line 25 Consulting helps entrepreneurs create content that connects with their audience. Most entrepreneurs struggle with social media because they do not know what to post. However, creating content on a consistent basis allows you demonstrate your expertise, increase visibility and cultivate your personal or company brand all while solving your social media problem. This may range from launching a podcast, being a podcast guest or writing a book. Line 25 works with clients to create a content marketing strategy aligned with their current business and marketing goals.

Over the years, I have been fortunate to author two books Network, Navigate & Nurture: The Equation to Strategic Networking and Success Undefined: Reject Your Fears & Frame Your Success. Host and produce the Networking With Michelle Show and have been a guest on over 50 podcasts. This has allowed me to speak to organizations on business networking, content and social media marketing.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Around the age of eight or nine, my mom took my brother and me to Cameroon, our native land. That trip has forever shaped my perspective about people and culture.
