Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Ramsey.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, I always had a love of cooking. I would enter contests as a kid and place first or second almost everytime. When I got older though, I thought my passion of a career would be with children. I worked with kids for 13 years, but my favorite time with them is when I would give them cooking lessons, simple snacks that they could assemble, that was age appropriate.
I later realized that is where my heart really was supposed to be. So I went back to school and got my associates in Culinary Arts. I started working at a bar as a cook and then started my own catering company to which I catered the Alley Theatre and Theatre Under the Stars. There happened to be an ad on craigslist for a small deli, which was the perfect size. And that is where I am right now, doing occasional catering when requested.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, it has been smooth. Once I put my mind to something, I won’t stop until I achieve it.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Chelle’s Cafe – what should we know?
Chelle’s Café is a small café/deli located in one of the office buildings in Houston. We offer a range of daily specials, sandwiches, and salads, as well as catering and dinners to go. I am most proud to serve fresh, fast and affordable meals to the public. What sets us apart from others, being such a small restaurant, we get to know each and every customer personally and cater our menu towards them.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Hard work and determination.
