Meet Michelynne Bell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelynne Bell.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Michelynne. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started off with a passion for people pursuing their dreams and connecting the dots to help them get there. My journey started in Career Services at the University of Houston where I worked as an Employer Relations rep and an Internship Manager.

During my tenure at UH, I made many life long connections and my desire to help first-generation college students dream bigger than their current state motivated me greatly. Once I saw these dreams manifest, I was encouraged to take it a step further to ensure that our new wave of leaders knew how to enter the workforce and successfully climb the corporate ladder.

In my latter years at UH, I transitioned into a Recruiting Manager role and started networking with organizations all over the world. This is where I saw first hand how organizations needed to know how to successfully attract and retain talent and how great of an opportunity this was for my community. I started learning everything I could about HR and Corporate Communication. I even went back and completed by B.A. degree in Corporate Communication to help me have a deeper understanding for my field.

After graduation, I was offered one of the most challenging but rewarding jobs of my career. I was offered and accepted a position with Houston Methodist hospital as a Recruiter. Using the same techniques I taught my former UH students, I quickly climbed the corporate ladder receiving three major promotions in two years. My last title at Houston Methodist was Recruiting Manager where I managed 25 employees over four lines of business for a hospital system who housed more than 20k employees. It was in this very space I knew I was on a special path as I was exposed to many things that worked great and things that needed immediate change. Some that I could impact and some that I couldn’t. After my time with Houston Methodist, I stepped out on Faith and decided to launch MKK Bell Consulting not just as another consulting firm but one who cares about helping their clients see a huge impact with their teams.

MKK Bell Consulting was birthed due to an overwhelming need for organizational training and development in the workplace. Typically HR departments are looked at as the “firing squad” by employees. I had a desire to change the narrative and bridge the gap by helping employees become life learners and teaching managers how to effectively lead their teams.

MKK Bell Consulting is also known for establishing HR Best practices and training managers how to compliantly lead and foster great relationships with their teams. Creating employee handbooks, strategic plans, disciplinary processes, employee rewards systems and planning company retreats are just a few offerings in MKK Bell’s wheelhouse.

As of 1/6/2020 MKK Bell Consulting will be undergoing a name change that better represents our mission and vision. HR Growth Spurts will help corporations and business owners all of over the world!

My Plus Size Diary (MPSD) – All while pursuing my corporate career goals I kept a lifelong passion alive through creating MPSD. MPSD is a space where I micro-blog lifestyle content and mainly fashion for plus size women. I’ve traveled all over the world connecting with plus size women in an effort to better understand the market. In 2019 I softly launched MPSD(Slay your Vacay) boutique. I love traveling and every time my husband and I would vacation, I would get stopped multiple times from strangers complimenting me on my attire. As a plus size girl, I source fashionable garments, not your regular over-sized non structured garments that are typically sold to plus size women. Currently, we are a seasonal boutique where we start showcasing our line mid-march! Our garments have literally hit almost every island and popular vacation spot by our consumers and we love it!

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a learning and faith experience. I never knew I would be a full-time entrepreneur. Working for 20+ years with a steady check and having to now source clients and garments for steady income is scary and challenging. Strategic planning is my jam so I’ve set both of my companies up to have very little overhead and strategic contracts so our profit margins are reliable as possible. You must have a Faith walk to stay sane in this race!

Networking outside of the corporate space has been a challenge. Honestly, I’ve found some unwilling to connect or those who are willing but their companies don’t reflect how I know successful businesses operate. I am praying to find more organizations and networking opportunities in 2020 that align to my career goals!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
