Meet Miesha Weaver of MW’s Mobile Notary in Spring

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miesha Weaver.

Miesha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
March 2016, a single mom of three was faced with the slump of the downturn in the oil and gas industry. I was laid off from my place of employment and had no other income besides the unemployment, which was only a fraction of what I usually brought home. I applied to over two hundred and sixty jobs over a 8-month time frame and had no luck. My car was repossessed, I lost my home in eviction, and debt began to accumulate. I had to do something. I had to make a way to provide for my kids. So I did some research on quick start-up businesses and mobile notary came up several times. I applied with the state to become a notary, applied for my DBA, and took off as a mobile notary. It wasn’t easy at first and, at times, discouraging because if you are not known, you won’t be the first person that others will call for business. Over the years, I’ve grown and established myself in the mobile notary business and enlarged my services by becoming a certified loan signing agent as well. I learned the valuable lesson that you should never be dependant on one source of income.
Here it is 2020. I had “write a book” on my vision board for the past few years and never could find the time or discipline to get it done. Covid-19 makes its arrival. I am instructed to work from home, teach my kids from home, and remain at home on lockdown per the state. I now had plenty of time to complete my dream of becoming a published author. I completed my book in three weeks and released it on Mother’s Day. By day three, I was #71 on Barnes and Noble best selling biographies. I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t have a huge publishing company or an agent. I self-published and shared my book on social media. My family and friends have been the best support system I could ask for. People see me today but don’t know my story of what it took to get to where I am. I encourage everyone to believe in themselves, keep God first, and never let hard times prevent you from striving for your best self.

Has it been a smooth road?
As a single mother, it has never been a smooth road but the journey along the way has been worth it.

Please tell us about MW’s Mobile Notary.
MW’s Mobile Notary. A Notary Public is an official of integrity appointed by state government — typically by the secretary of state — to serve the public as an impartial witness in performing a variety of official fraud-deterrent acts related to the signing of important documents.

I’m a traveling mobile notary. I come to my clients to meet there needs at the most critical times. From business documents, wills, power of attorney, titles, transfer, or whatever document that can be legally notarized. I am known for being reliable and available when needed on short notice. Eighty percent of my clients are repeat customers and my business has grown from referrals.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, Houston is the 4th largest city in America. There is a great opportunity for anyone to step out and become a mobile notary. I’ve encouraged and helped four others personally start their own mobile notary business.
