Today we’d like to introduce you to Minnie Troy.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to be a massage therapist. When my mom came home after walking two miles from work, I’d watch her in pain and dream of ways to help. That early passion became an obsession to evolve massage therapy. At 15, my best friend was my friend’s grandmother—who soon became my own. She was bedridden, on heavy medication, and surrounded by nurses. I worked with her hands-on until she was moving again. That’s when I found my calling in Orthopedic Medical Massage.
During my residency, my first patient was a veteran who’d lost part of his limbs in war. No one else would touch him—but I did. From that moment, I knew my purpose was to care for the chronically injured, especially veterans.
After hurricanes, divorce, and COVID, I rebuilt my practice more than once. In 2024, my lifelong dream finally came true—massage therapy was accepted for veterans’ care. We’re still fighting for fair payment, but that’s okay. They fought for us, and now we fight for them.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Hurricane, Divorce, COVID, I am a Native American and my tribe Sac and Fox helped me survive the turbulence.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Orthossage?
Orthossage was built for the ones everyone else gave up on. The last-resort, only-hope patients who’ve tried everything and still live in pain. We say “Challenge accepted.” Through our proprietary Orthossage Method™, we merge orthopedic medical massage with functional rehabilitation to retrain the body, restore movement, and reignite healing — even when traditional methods have failed.
We don’t just perform massage; we engineer recovery. Every 25-minute session is a focused, science-backed treatment built for results, not relaxation. Our mission is to bring medical-grade massage to the people who need it most — especially veterans, who now receive Orthossage care through VA and TriWest programs at no cost. They fought for us, so we fight for them.
As of 2024, Orthossage is expanding into franchising and therapist training, building a national network dedicated to healing with integrity, precision, and heart. Our motto, “Challenge Accepted,” isn’t just a slogan — it’s our way of life. We take on what others won’t: the chronic, the complex, the forgotten.
Every patient who walks through our doors leaves seen, understood, and rebuilt — one 25-minute appointment at a time.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
“We are all self-made, only the successful admit to it.”
To me, success isn’t about titles or numbers. It’s a calling, a duty I’m meant to fulfill. My measure of success is simple: how many people can I help in 25 minutes? My goal is a thousand — and then a thousand more.
True success is seeing massage therapy finally recognized as an essential part of healthcare — not as a luxury, but as a necessity. It’s watching our industry evolve, our patients heal, and our therapists rise with purpose and have a career that they are able to climb the corporate ladder.
That’s success to me — turning compassion into change, one 25-minute miracle at a time.
