Hi Monica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Whew, lets see… well, I started wanting to do pet photography a few years ago. I always loved wildlife and nature and I wanted to still in a way photograph animals, but pets. I got discouraged due to lack of confidence. I always doubted myself, and was afraid of failing. Until the last year I have been contemplating of picking up where I left off. It was heavy in my heart and the thought of you fail, well at least you tried it. And thank God for helping me in the journey because i dont know if I would of finally dived in. This year was officially the year that after practicing for years and free sessions. I did paid shoots and clients. Slowly but I have faith it will get better.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, but one I am glad im overcoming. I had a rough upbringing and I always had been told a narrative that im not good enough, and for so long I believed it, till this day I have trouble but I rely on my faith to help me push forward. Because of fear and not feeling enough it stopped me from taking this stop long ago. Doing side jobs to afford paying my business side of things. It can be challenging. But nothing is always easy and thats okay.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well, I am a Christian photographer. My business name is actually from one of the most known bible verse Psalms 23. In what I did, I still wanted to represent my faith. I specialize in lifestyle photography. And im known for my true to life style of photography. I think what may set me apart is for being patient and truly caring for what I do. I am proud to put myself out there with what I believe. There is a photographer for everyone, and the clients I get come because they are okay with who i am and my work. Besides offering professional quality work, I offer genuineness and human experience. I know its silly, but im not a robot and I like to communicate despite my introvert ways. I like my client feeling seen and comfortable. Each session is unique and its not just another session or slap a preset. Its personalized always.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
To be honest! Nothing is better to be known as someone to trust you because they can count on your honesty.
