Meet Moses Friday of The Social Avenue in Southwest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Moses Friday.

Moses, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Entrepreneurship has always been in my blood. When I was younger, I remember coming up with the idea of creating artwork and sell it at the park. I knew this was special because when I looked at what the other children were doing, they weren’t creating anything to sell. I literally had products to sell from my own creation. My family inspired me, even more to see myself as an entrepreneur. Being an entrepreneur was something I always knew I would thrive. Currently, I’m a business development manager at an environmental consulting company. I decided to bet on myself because I knew I had the creativity and tenacity to create services that would benefit people. The knowledge and experience I’ve gained from my current BDM position, I’ve used it to launch my own business successfully.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a tough road, a lot of storms along this path to success. I’m sure everyone knows what it’s like to fail. However, I told myself that I have to succeed. Failure is not an option. This WILL work. Some of the struggles I’ve faced is having to balance a 9-5 while juggling clients for my business. Another obstacle is making sure I have enough clientele to cover my overhead. What makes entrepreneurship enjoyable to me is that it’s more than having a profitable business but enjoying what you do.

Tell us more about the business.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
First and foremost, everything happens for a reason. I believe all of my life experiences are life lessons. Certain experiences I don’t look at as bad luck but as a lesson learned. The thing is to persevere, be confident, stay motivated and believe that your vision will be successful if you stay diligent and consistent.
