Meet Nadiyah Jackson of Fab Inc Hair Studio in West University

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadiyah Jackson.

Nadiyah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hair for me was once just a hobby. I can remember always being asked by friends and family to do their hair. Seeing that my mom and aunt were “kitchenticians,” I guess the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Even though I enjoyed hair, I didn’t pursue it professionally until many years later. I went into the corporate world, never really being happy or fulfilled with my career path. July 2010, a lightbulb went off! At that point, I was just miserable with my current career and decided to pursue my passion I had suppressed. Even though I was fearful of the future, I stepped out on faith and enrolled in Paul Mitchell The School. Paul Mitchell was a great foundation. I’ve also had the great pleasure of working under some of the best hair artists who have mentored and molded me into the stylist I am today. At Fab Inc Hair Studio, my motto is Fabulous Hair for a Fabulous You. My main focus is on healthy hair and then creating the look that best suits the client with an added splash of Fab! It is my belief when you look good, you feel good. It’s my goal to bring out the fabulous on every client whether it’s through an edgy haircut or amazing color.

Has it been a smooth road?
Getting started in the business did present challenges through building clientele and perfecting my craft. There were times I contemplated giving up, but my hunger and desire were stronger. My suggestion is that you make sure you have a support system and stay educated with local classes, hair shows and one-on-one mentorships.

Please tell us about your business.
I specialize in color. I love creating transformations. Often, clients are convinced they cannot have color because of a bad color job in the past, medical reasons, or just fear. I’m proud that my clients trust me with their new looks. They trust me to care for their hair. It is so gratifying to create long lasting relationships.
