Today we’d like to introduce you to Najah Marie.
Najah, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Wow, my journey began when I started taking film and television acting classes in 2016. From there, I enrolled at Houston Community College, where I originally was going to major in Music Business. By the end of my second year, I decided to change my major to Theatre Arts because I became more passionate about acting than the music business. Once I switched majors, I starred in various plays and even worked behind the scenes for production at HCC’s Stafford campus. In 2017, I decided to start my YouTube channel after being inspired by another Youtuber named Asia Jackson. It was time-consuming juggling classes, theatre productions, and filming videos for my channel, but I made it work. In 2019, I finally graduated with my associate’s in Theatre Arts, and I am still pursuing Film/TV acting as well as continuing to grow my YouTube channel.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This journey of mine hasn’t been a smooth road in the slightest. One of the main struggles I’m still working through is comparing my journey to other, more well-established Youtubers and actors. Another struggle I’m overcoming is focusing on pushing myself outside of my comfort zone and believing in myself and what I have to offer the world.
Please tell us about your work.
My business is myself, and I am an actress/musician/content creator/influencer. I specialize in beauty lifestyle topics, and fashion for petite women. As a company/business, I am most proud of being able or privileged to use my talents to reach all kinds of people and positively affect them. The thing that sets me apart from others is my personality– I’m a dramatic nerd who happens to be a kid at heart and is an empath, so I’m sensitive. I think all of these traits allow me to approach topics from different angles and relate to all kinds of people.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to obtain agency representation, continuing to grow my YouTube channel/social media presence, eventually move to Los Angeles, obtain a guest star role on a Freeform show, and star in a Netflix film.
