Today we’d like to introduce you to NaKeitha Ross.
NaKeitha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Being raised around hair and working with my mom was a natural progression into the beauty business. I grew up working in my mother’s salon as her assistant. It was there that I watched women leave feeling transformed and beautiful.
After graduating from high school, I went directly to the University of Houston to pursue a degree in Communications and Marketing. After I walked across the stage a second time, I realized hair and beauty were my true my passions. I stepped outside the box and enrolled in cosmetology school to pursue my true calling. In February 2003, I opened 360 Degrees Hair Studio in Houston, Texas with my mother, Lisa Moore.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road was pretty smooth for the most part. However, it has become more bumpy and rough within the last five years as I try to expand my brand and diversify my future. My challenges have been trying to stay relevant and vital in an industry that gravitates to new and youthfulness, launching my lifestyle consulting business and getting it off its feet. As the co-founder of I.C.O.N. Women’s Organization, the challenges come in the form of making the best decisions to take its next leap in the nonprofit arena.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a lover of life and everything that is beautiful. I am the co-owner of 360 Degrees Hair Studio, co-founder of I.C.O.N. Women’s Organization (Houston, TX), and global artistic director for McBride Research Laboratories (Decatur, GA). My most recent endeavor is being the curator of and mastermind behind The Fearless Female Retreat!

What I am most proud of:
Professionally, my proudest moment would be celebrating 15 years of being in business with my mom and adding my daughter to the family business; creating and living a legacy lifestyle.
In my personal life, I am proud each year I celebrate my wedding anniversary. It reminds me that real love still exists if you are willing to work for it despite the differences and challenges. In regards to my children, I was proud when my daughter left for college and when my son was baptized.
What sets me apart?
There is not one single thing that sets me apart. It is a formula. I understand the value and importance of others and the team. I am not afraid to take chances or risks. I understand the importance of consistency and completion of tasks.
But, above all of my skills and expertise, I value relationships and work diligently to build and maintain relationships. My connection with people and businesses is the foundation of my success. Who people are and the point they are in their life is important to me and I respect each person individually. Relationships are built on genuine interest and I am genuinely interested in knowing a person’s name, background, and who they are because they are important to this world. If God placed them in my path, it was for a reason and I want to learn about them to fulfill that reason.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The future: Wow! The future for me and my brand is so vast. My faith is taking me to heights I have never experienced. NaKeitha Ross is expanding towards becoming a full-time business strategist and coach as well as growing my newest venture of The Fearless Female Forum which is designed to take women from stationary to action. I have created The Fearless Female Retreat that is designed to move women from stationary to execution. My first one will be in March 2019 with annual retreats. So, yes. Major changes have already started in the shift of these projects.
