Nancy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was in middle school, my mom’s friend started to teach me how to take care of my hair and to style my locks. It was a brand new world for me, full of incredible discoveries. So, since the age of twelve, I have always known I wanted to be a hairstylist. I am blessed to have a supportive and understanding family, which has always encouraged me to follow my dream.
In my group of friends, I am known as a visual person who is into creative pursuits, so no one was surprised that I’ve decided to go to a beauty school and work with skilled hairdressers. This education has helped me gain the necessary experience and explore the beauty industry inside and out. I am like a sponge when it comes to soaking up information, so I’ve learned quickly. I’ve seen how a gorgeous hairstyle gave confidence and transformed people. Since that time, my main goal in life has been to serve others, make them happy, and put a smile on their faces.
After I’ve acquired the necessary skills and experience, I decided to work in a beauty salon. It was a great time. We’ve had a solid team, everyone has helped each other, although there’s always been a highly competitive environment.
Having worked in a beauty salon for some time, I’ve realized that I needed a career change. I’ve wanted to try my hand at business, that is why I’ve opened my own beauty salon in Houston. I won’t go into detail, my work hasn’t been easy, but I’ve coped with all the problems. I’ve put a part of my soul into my small beauty salon. I’ve been fortunate to help many people become happier and more self-assured.
After that, I’ve planned to develop further in this area. I’ve always wanted to share my knowledge and ideas. So, launching my website, dedicated to hairstyles, was the expected step. On this website, fashionistas and hairdressers can learn more about trendy hairstyles for men and women, and get inspired by some ideas.
I can say that I am pretty successful now, but I’m not going to stop. In fact, there are still many goals I want to achieve.
I don’t have any big plans for now. However, my main goal is to serve as many people as possible by offering my skills and knowledge. That is why I find attractive the idea of adding a website section, dedicated to hair care. However, I can’t say anything definite so far.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Undoubtedly, the beauty industry is tricky. New trends, techniques, and various technologies always keep you focused. Yes, it is not easy to develop in this industry, and my path from a hairdresser to a successful entrepreneur and website owner definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There were ups and downs, there were moments when I was confused and did not know what to do next. I’ve encountered many obstacles, but they’ve been amazing growth opportunities for me. Actually, if you decide to follow your passion and embark on a business venture, you should be ready for everything. Personally, I’ve evolved as a professional through the acceptance of constructive criticism, the continuous development of my skills, communication with successful people, and the expansion of my horizons.

What were you like growing up?
One of the most vivid childhood memories is the moments when I’ve done my dolls’ hair. Later, I’ve kept practicing (thanks to my siblings), and my mom must have some photos of this creative activity (I don’t even want to look at them, ha!).
