Today we’d like to introduce you to Na’Sha Jones.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Na’Sha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been big on decorating and being very over the top with it. I had my daughter at the age of 18 and every birthday till this day, she has had a themed birthday party. She has had anything from a zoo party on an actual farm to a Hollywood red carpet glam party where she dressed like a Beyoncé to a western themed party that was held at a cabin in the woods. I love, love, love detail. Details that people wouldn’t even think of or would think. That’s too much. I have spent many holidays surrounded around people along with birthdays that I just went over the top with. It took one good friend of mines to tell me, “Na’Sha, you should turn this into a business.” I thought about it and was like, “hey why not?!” So, I did and for the first 4 months, it was literally through word of mouth. All I did was post on my social media that I was giving the event planning a try and just like that, I was booked 4 months out! I just couldn’t believe it! You never know who is watching you, what so ever! If anything that just boosted up my confidence that apparently people had been watching my personal social media and admiring my pictures from past parties. I mean, I celebrate anything to have a reason to pull out decor! From St. Patrick’s day to football games to Presidents’ Day! Hey! It’s ways to celebrate that as well! I ran my business for a while part time as I was transitioning to this new season in my life! But I can say, I am up and running full time as of today. My goal one day, would be to own my own venue which I am striding for everyday. I can just see it now!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have had many struggles along the way because when planning your own parties, it’s just you. Everyone listens to you. But you now have clients and you are the listener which was very hard for me because I felt I knew what they wanted and to just trust me. Sometimes that works. Sometimes it doesn’t. You have to give the client what they want. When I first started off, I literally wasn’t making a profit because if my clients wanted something and couldn’t afford it then I will take the fees that they paid me and use it for what they wanted or needed. The event just had to be perfect to me! I would even add my own money to their budgets a lot of times, because I wanted the event to be more fabulous than it already was. Crazy right?! I have since learned that, if it’s not in their budget, then, it just won’t work.
Na’Sha Design Events – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Na’Sha Design Events is an event planning firm. We specialize in ANY reason to have a celebration! No event is too big nor too small. No matter if it’s a Gala or a kids birthday party or a private dinner. We do it all! We are known for just being fabulous all around. We are so proud of a company that we literally get clients from other businesses saying that they didn’t like the customer service but was referred to us by past clients or word of mouth. I would like to say what sets us apart from other companies is that we want to make sure that we exceed your expectations and make you happy every step of the way. We are not afraid to admit our mistakes and wrong doings. No company is perfect and we def don’t claim to be. But, our customer service is similar to our slogan…. Fabulously Planned… Always Remembered.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally feel that one defines success with true happiness. We have one life and one life only. Some are content with small businesses and getting by. Some feel they need to have the biggest of the biggest and get it all. Me, myself, I have come a long way from planning my daughter’s parties in the garage, to now planning an actual events for other people in known venues. My criteria is just to simply have fun. Because clients spend their hard earned money on these events and they expect a stress-free wave. That’s why they hire an event planner. If my client is happy and know they can tell me about any of my downfall if any, then I have lost and will strive to succeed even further. Because there’s nothing wrong with mastering your craft even better than ever. Life is about living and learning. You learn something new everyday. And I’m always open to learn more to make the next client happy.
