Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Thomas.
Natalie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As a child, I loved taking pictures. My mother had many photo albums and displays and I loved going the albums, reflecting on the memories in each image. Whenever I could, I would take picture on whatever devices I could for any occasion, on Polaroids, disposable Kodak’s and camera phones. After graduate school, I found myself having alot more free time than usual.
My husband knew my love for taking pictures and decided to purchase a camera. My children would take seasonal school pictures and I did not like them. I decided since I wouldn’t purchase the school packages I would do them on my own. I taught myself how to use my camera and master shooting in manual mode from various books, online resources, and youtube. Eventually, my practice session turned into paid clients which then turned into a business.
Has it been a smooth road?
I do not have a business background. Everything I have do has been research, workshops and relying on other business owners for advice. My number one struggle is marketing and learning the social media algorithm.
