Meet Nay Lassala of Nay’s Atelier Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nay Lassala.

Hi Nay, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Nay Lassala, I’m a portrait photographer based in Houston and I’m originally from brazil.

In 2014, I started photographing. I mainly took self-portraits and I liked to refer to myself as a “model-tographer”. I would also take my camera with me everywhere I went to capture landscapes, buildings, bugs, flowers.. literally anything.

2014-2018 in high school I used to photograph during events for organizations and this is where my love for photographing people began.

In 2017-2019 my focus was on freelance modeling so I didn’t have much time to photograph many “for fun” shoots, but I did photograph often for a character company and I absolutely loved capturing the essence of the characters.

In 2020 I started accepting clients! this was a major turning point for me!! At this point, I started realizing photography was more than a hobby to me. I fell absolutely in love with portraits, and the process of photography. my favorite part is the constant learning. You could be a 10+ year professional and STILL have things to learn.

2020-2021 I started taking my photography seriously because at this point I knew I wanted it to be my future profession. I spent time upgrading my gear, refining my skills, building my experience, building relationships with clients, and learning anything and everything I could!!! this is also when I started learning my ‘niche and style’ and working towards perfecting it. my goal is for someone to look at a photograph of mine and say “oh nay definitely took this”.

Now the year is 2022, I am turning 22, and I am officially a business owner!!

This journey has been everything to me! I have so many goals and plans to work towards, this is just the beginning. I am so proud of myself and so grateful to everyone who supports me, I couldn’t have made it this far without them.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The two things that hold me back from furthering my growth and what I call my biggest enemies — time, and money.

It can be very frustrating to have clear goals in mind and not be able to achieve them right away due to not having enough time or funds.

Other than this my journey has been nice and steady, I am always looking forward to learning more, refining my skill, and gaining experience. Self-growth and professional growth are my biggest motivators!!!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Nay’s Atelier Photography?
I am a portrait photographer and I love to capture the essence of individuals through polished, timeless, and true color portraits. My goal during and after my photo sessions is for my clients and models to feel beautiful, empowered, and confident!

I photograph a bit of everything including boudoir, maternity, seniors/grads, families, couples, models, and more!

An atelier is a studio. I named my business Nay’s Atelier with the goal of owning and opening up my own studio within the next few years!
