Meet Nichole Daniel of True Expressions Photography in Tomball

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nichole Daniel.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nichole. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always loved taking portraits. I first picked up a camera at 9 when my sister was born. Being able to take pictures of her tiny little hands and capturing her big personality in a single photograph made me fall in love with photography. I learned that you can capture so much emotion in a single portrait and I loved being able to create these memories and therefore never put the camera down. As time went on, my love for photography grew and I later graduated from Texas State with a Bachelor’s of Science in Digital and Photographic Imaging. I had always dreamed of having my own portrait studio, so my husband and I took a chance and opened my first studio in Old Town Spring in 2008, renting a small 1912 1400 sq. foot studio on Midway Street. My goal was to provide a full-service portrait boutique that was based around creating gorgeous wall portraits for my clients and being able to design wall galleries that they would cherish as their family grew. As the years went on our small studio began to grow and we continued to capture our growing client’s families year after year. We soon realized we were beginning to outgrow our little studio and I dreamed of owning my own space on some land to have both an indoor and outdoor studio in one place. After 4 years of looking and praying for the right place for our growing business, we came across the cutest 1936 converted commercial building. In July of 2016, we purchased and moved into our new 2400 sq. ft. studio located on a little less than an acre and located in Downtown Tomball. Our new studio gave us the space we were needing with a large outdoor studio area and a home for our 1954 Chevy truck, which is our favorite prop!

Has it been a smooth road?
Being an artist makes me an extremely passionate person and we take our art very personal, which sometimes makes it hard to be an artist. I love what I do, but learning the business side of my art is something I struggled with when we first opened. Learning to take risks and moving out of my comfort zone has also been a challenge. I have learned in order to advance in this big business world risks are involved, but in the end, I have realized that it takes big risks to move forward. I prayed that my first studio would not fail and 8 years later, we were able to purchase and buy our own building.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with True Expressions Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I started my business in 2008 as a full-service portrait boutique meaning we focus on personalizing the individual style of each client, to offer a truly unique portrait experience resulting in state of the art wall galleries and portrait products. It is our goal to walk our clients through each session from beginning to end helping with styling, portrait ideas and finishing with designing portraits for the walls of their homes. As a mom myself, I realize that we are busy and often don’t have a lot of free time to decide what pictures look best on certain walls and which look best in an album. The last thing I want to do is sort thru hundreds of pictures in between soccer and baseball practice to decide which one belongs over my fire place. This is why we focus on catering to each client so that they walk away with gorgeous art ready to show off in an album or hang on their wall.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Our city is so diverse and we have so many really awesome people. Over the years, I have met and become close to so many awesome families and watched their families grow. I LOVE the people of our city, they are so fun and being able to capture them having fun with the people they love most is the best part of my job! My least favorite is probably the traffic, we sometimes will offer mini sessions in different areas of the city such as Galveston for beach pictures and making it across town in traffic is definitely not my favorite! That’s when Audible becomes my favorite app!
