Today we’d like to introduce you to Nichole Johnson.
Hi Nichole, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a love for skincare. Growing up my mother instilled the importance of self-care. She did not use much makeup but she was always meticulous about how she took care of her skin.
As a child, I suffered from infantigo. The scars that were left made my skin scaly and rough. As I got older, the spots seemed to get worse. My dermatologist would prescribe different medications but the side effects were not the best. So I decided one day, I would sit and mix different fragrances, oils, and fruit to use on my skin.
I found out the hard way that I was allergic to baby oil after applying it to my face to make it smooth. (Laughing) let’s just say, I never did that again. Having an allergy to baby oil limited the amount of products that I could use on my skin. So, I started studying alternative oils that I could use that would help me keep my skin soft. I created a skin oil that had a coconut base that I used to smooth and heal my skin.
Fast forward years later, after going through a divorce and a few life-changing events, I was looking for a career change after working years in the medical and retail area. I decided on a career in esthetics. My goal was to combine my love of skin and body with my love of conversation and making people happy.
I wanted to start a wellness spa where people can enjoy relaxing specialty treatments, and relax their mind, body and spirit.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My journey has been a little rough. My mother was diagnosed with dementia and caring for an elderly parent takes a lot mentally and physically. However, she instilled the love of God in me at an energy age which has allowed me to Hi Nichole, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?

Having an allergy to baby oil limited the amount of products that I could use on my skin. So, I started studying alternative essential oils and their homeopathic effects that I could use that would help me keep my skin soft. I created a skin oil that had a coconut base that I used to smooth and heal my skin.
Fast forward years later, after going through a divorce and a few life-changing events, I was looking for a career change after working years in the medical and retail area. I decided on a career in esthetics. I could combine my love of self care and skincare and do what I love. My goal was to create products that did it have harsh ingredients and would heal the skin without harming it.
I started Gleaux Skin Care Wellness Spa so there would be a place where my clients can come, relax and enjoy specialty treatments for the entire body.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I completed my esthetic training at College Of The Mainland located In La Marque, TX in 2018 and I am currently completing my Instructors and Massage Therapist Certification
I currently own Gleaux Skin Care Wellness Spa with two locations in the Clear Lake and Galveston areas. I specialize in corrective skin care to include Teen/Adult Acne, Anti-Aging, Oncology (cancer skincare), Hyperpigmentation (dark spots), Total Body Waxing, Skin Tag Removal, Men’s Skin & Beard Care, and Total Body Wellness.
I created a 3 step acne skincare line called C Clear Skin that focuses on teen acne and co-created a men’s beard care line alongside my fiancé’s called Beard Jules Grooming.
Our companies goal is to Create Clear Skin From Within. The skin is the largest organ on your body and everything we put on it, in it, and around it affects it. From dry skin to breakouts, etc it all started with what’s inside. I educate my clients on their diets, overall mental and physical health, and the different things that contribute to their overall health and well-being.
I have started Gleaux Skin Care Teen an acne teen boot camp to help educate teenagers (13-17) on proper skin care techniques and how to properly cleanse their faces and what products are best to help keep their skin clear.
My journey thus far had been extremely rewarding and I can’t wait to place Gleaux Skin Care Wellness Spa in every city.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I recently opened Gleaux Wax Academy to help currently licensed professionals and students with more in-depth courses on Intimate Skin Waxing, Vajacials and Skincare. Going through esthetics and cosmetology we are taught the basics of waxing. My course covers not only the basics but details which waxes, techniques, and post-wax products.
This course helps increase clients retention and builds additional revenue.
