Today we’d like to introduce you to Nico Samuels-Campbell.
Nico, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
So, a little about me, well, my alias is “Promo.” I’m from the southwest side of Houston. I went to UH, during my time there, I became a huge promoter in the college scene. I had a 40 man team named “Elite Promotions,” I threw one of the largest college parties in the state of Texas at PV University I had an attendance of about 4000 people (https://youtu.be/gbMFNgS_U0o).
Upon my last semester at UH, I moved to Washington DC for an Events and Marketing internship, then I end up getting hired on, so I end up staying for the next three years and when I got up there, I got in the club scene and had a weekly gig, that did very well. When Trump got elected, he cut my funding, so I end up leaving my job and moving back to Houston. When I got back to Houston, I didn’t want to party promote anymore, so I started @wanted.agency which is my creative agency where we do everything ranging from music, graphic design, photography, videography, commercials, targeted marketing, SEO, and brand development. The Wanted Agency has two main departments, the internal department which handles everything that has to do with the company itself and also, there is our external department who provides solutions to clients of Wanted.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
To be completely honest, so far, it has not been a smooth road. I feel that my biggest challenge lies in funding. Right now, I am talking to several investors about investing in my Agency, so I can grow and scale to the level I am slowly rising to every day. Right now, the Wanted Agency consists of a small 3-4 man team. Some days that works, but other days, we need help. The reason being, that same 3-4 small team is not only working on client’s needs, but they are also working on the needs of the company and trying to accomplish both, sometimes, it’s a lot for us. So, I would use the funding to increase my team and pour more money into marketing and outreach to expose the company a tad bit more.
Wanted Agency LLC – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Wanted Agency is a creative Agency who specializes in providing solutions to businesses. We build websites, make flyers, shoot commercials, graphic design, practice marketing, develop logos, and focus on brand development. Our target demographic is small businesses for the simple fact every business that is starting out will need a Website, Logo, Marketing and that’s a fact. That’s the external side of it. But internally for the company, we focus on production content and music… so I have music artist, videographers, photographers, models, so internally we will operate like a Talent management firm with a concentration in Music everything at Wanted will be recorded, mixed, mastered and then distributed. The reason for the internal side is that we have goal one day in the near future, Wanted will gain contracts with the major labels, broadcasting channels, blogs, and etc. to generate revenue and become one of the largest enterprises in the nation.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is what you make it. A lot of people make excuses for why they can’t be successful or why they haven’t made it to success yet and the answer is easy: DON’T QUIT. If you want to be successful, you have to ask yourself how badly do you want it? Would you rather party or study? Another thing people have to realize is that success does not come overnight, if it did, trust me, everybody would be successful. In closing, just keep chasing your dreams, no matter what anyone tells you. Period!
