Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Beasley.
Nicole, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After leaving corporate America, I started my own child care center and was very successful for more than nine years. After having my youngest child, I developed extremely high blood pressure after my pregnancy. I was forced to choose between my health and my business. I made the very tough decision to sell my business and take some much-needed time off to focus on my health. However, I never lost my passion for early childhood education. I loved children, and I had a greater understanding of the daily struggles of the childcare industry. Thus, I decided to stay within the early childhood education field but provide some much-needed consulting services for new and established daycare owners. Now, I am able to still make a huge impact on the lives of children and directors within the childcare centers that are a part of Emergent Ed!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Entrepreneurship is certainly a challenge. It has not been a smooth road. There have been bumps along the way, but my passion for children and directors have allowed me to seamlessly overcome the struggles that I have endured. One of the major struggles within the early childhood field is that it is a highly regulated industry. Teachers and directors must balance the need for professional development or consulting services with the demand for staff needed to meet state mandated classroom ratios. So a large percentage of the time, teachers and directors are legally unable to leave the building and receive the help that is needed to maintain consistent development and growth through consulting services. Also, As an advocate for children birth through five, the need for early childhood education has always been undermined. This has been a huge struggle for agencies and other advocates within our industry. Most people understand K-12; however, research has shown the enormous benefits of early childhood education.
Emergent Ed Child Care Consulting – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Emergent Ed. Child Care Consulting specializes in helping individuals start their very own childcare center or home that exceeds state mandated health and safety standards for the children they will serve. We offer the Texas Director’s Credentialing Course which is approved by the Health and Human Services Child Care Licensing Division to ensure the new director is well-trained to run a successful childcare program.
In addition, we have a variety of services to help new and established directors maintain consistent compliance in their buildings with our online professional development training courses, child development webinars, in-person conferences, and E-Books. We are well-known for having a 100% licensing application approval rate for all childcare centers and homes that we have consulted with! What sets us apart is our passion for the children and directors that we serve. We want to ensure that every childcare center or home that opens, will exceed state standards for the health and safety of all children that will be enrolled in their program.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I like to think that luck has always been on my side, both personally and professionally. I am a very genuine person, so I believe that good luck finds its way to me. In business, it’s all about making a consistent series of good choices. Making the right choices is good luck!
