Hi Nikki, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m born and raised in Chicago I moved to Vegas to give my kids a better life after closing my restaurant. In the short story, I’m here in Houston enjoying life & building my brands
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all, Let me start from the beginning of my YouTube journey. I started YouTube back in 2012 and stopped due to many things happening around me. In 2015 I got married and after that my life went downhill. I ended up Abandoned by my husband and homeless living in a shelter with my children. It was one of the worse times of my life. After losing my mother in 2018 I started back on YouTube to avoid depression and break down. I was a single mom of four and so broken, but not shattered. I got up and took control of my life back. I became a pharmacy tech, build myself back up and was able to move me and my kids to a hotel where I was paying $1,500 per month give or take depending on the rates. It was not ideal with one bed myself and three children but it was our own space I continued to work hard but still ended up facing adversity. One of my children is special needs and requires 24-hour care. My pharmacy job let me know that “The company is changing direction and will no longer be able to work around your daughter’s schedule ” I rushed to get FMLA to save my job and still that wasn’t enough. I ended up losing my job but this time I didn’t have to be homeless because by this time I had a man who was a provider and took very good care of us. He was my hero at the time and I was his. He was a widow and a single parent.
He asked me to marry him when I had nothing to offer him but my heart. We struggled a little bit because he was providing for a family of six by himself with a job that wasn’t paying enough. I continued to do YouTube as it was my passion and the support of my subscribers was much appreciated in those times. Together we moved to Houston and today by Gods grace and his mercy I am the proud owner of A self-love coaching business that empowers women and help them navigate through at times of adversity. I have a growing YouTube channel with over 20,000 subscribers and counting. I’m also proud to say that my YouTube channel is also a business for me Nikki Jae is now a brand!!! I am not my past. My past just assisted me in becoming the woman I am today. My kids are amazing two went off to college and the last one will be going off to college next year. I’ve been through a lot but now I get to live every day of my life like it’s my last stress-free!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
NikkiJae.com is my self-love coaching business. I feel like my experience makes me more fit for the job because I can empathize with my clients and relate to them. I’ve been that girl who didn’t love herself enough. I’m able to change lives in a positive way and for that I am proud. NikkiJsLife is my youtube channel and I get to share small pieces of my life but also inspire people by showing them better than I can tell them about self-love, I share my family with them and I’m most proud of the fact that people come to my channel to be inspired or to simply make their day better. I also teach people how to start a YouTube channel and tips and tricks on how to grow it and become monetized
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Ooo, that’s a good question. Um? Yes, I have learned something interesting and important. I learned that self-care is mandatory no matter what is going on in my life or the world. During Covid, I gained 50lbs which caused me health issues. Again I am showing my self-love by caring for myself with eating right and exercise.
