Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Newsome.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Photography at first for me (like many, I suppose) was simply just a hobby. That’s how my expedition began. I would spend my days walking in the backyard taking macros of anything “interesting” I could find. Interesting things included flowers, and bees, and water droplets. To be quite honest, it was never a personal choice of mine to photograph people. Being (partially) introverted, it was actually a huge fear. My views on that changed pretty quickly once I actually got started.
Oddly enough, my favorite part of the job isn’t even the photography. I adore meeting and connecting with my clients, and hearing their stories. As a photographer, you are sharing huge life moments with sometimes complete strangers! You get to be apart of their wonderful, once in a lifetime experiences and share that same happiness with them. It’s an amazing feeling.
I just recently started weddings and, man, I had no idea how into them I would be. Love is so beautiful. I never saw it like that as a child. I never dreamed of planning a perfect princess wedding or anything like that. It’s truly so special to me now, and each wedding I photograph has held a very dear place in my heart.
Has it been a smooth road?
Oh gosh, wouldn’t it be nice if life was that easy? I have most definitely struggled along the way and, as much as I hate to admit it, it has mainly been with my own personal demons. It took me a really long time to be confident in my own work. Judgment isn’t a concern of mine anymore, but that was certainly one of the hardest things for me to overcome. Disappointment from others is another good one.
With time, I eventually learned to let all of that go and found that life became much more peaceful within myself.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Nikki Newsome Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
As your photographer, I want to get to know you on a personal level and also as a friend. I want to hear all the love stories surrounding you and your significant other. Why are you in love! Why are you crazy about each other! I want to know all the things everyone else probably gets tired (or envious hehe) of hearing about.
A photography session can and should be a personalized experience totally unique to each couple! It most definitely should not be a one size fits all. The better I know you, the easier and the more fun we will have on the day of our shoot. Some people still have that misconception that there will be teeth pulling and name-calling and a whole lot of “say cheese!”, but it’s not like that.
Even the men have fun! Here and there I will take on families (mainly around the holidays), but I just thoroughly enjoy bringing out the true connection a couple shares. I have moved my way up to weddings and it has really been an incredible journey. I am really looking forward to the future and whatever great things it has in store for me.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I actually just recently moved to Tomball from Cypress. The small town vibe we have out here is really great, plus we have lots of deer and other wildlife. The people out here are extra friendly, and no one seems to ever be in a rush.
Unfortunately, because we are expanding, they are tearing down all the trees in our area in order to extend the highway. The “tree hugger” in me is really at an all-time high! Every day, driving out of the neighborhood you just see less and less of our trees. It’s really disappointing because that is kind of the reason we are out here.
