Today we’d like to introduce you to Nipa Joshi, Amit Joshi.
Nipa and Amit, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As engineers ourselves, we value education and enriching academic activities. When our oldest child started going to school, we wanted to look for some such educational enrichment activity. We did not come across any program that felt like a perfect combination of academic and overall personality growth of a child. Nipa had taken a sabbatical from field service work to be there with our daughters during their early development years. They were now in elementary school and it felt like a good time to focus on her career. Their passion for education led us to thinking of starting our own learning center. It was at that same time, sometime in 2016, Amit attended a small business seminar at the Galleria and learned about Best Brains, then a new academic enrichment program, wanting to expand their franchise. The Best Brains philosophy and methodology tuned well with our thinking that education is the best gift we can give to our next generation.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It started with being able to find a space in the Westside Pearland area that we are located in. Pearland being one of the fastest growing suburb in the Houston area, finding a location with affordable rent was tough. Due to that, we had to opt for a grey-shell space, meaning all the construction expense was on us to build out the space. We had to approach the SBA for a loan and that itself was a learning curve for business newbies like us. All this was delaying the actual possibility of starting our business.
But once we started, the community accepted us and our methodology, trusting us with their child’s academic enrichment. Our 5-star Google and Facebook reviews make us want to work harder and thrive to provide even better quality service than we did the day before.
Even now, with the Coronavirus pandemic affecting our business considerably, we are continuing to offer academic support to our students by offering both in-person, as well as, virtual enrichment classes for students. We have also incorporated Homework Help program where our teachers can assist students with their school homework, especially the students who are struggling with their studies during this pandemic.

Best Brains is a premiere US-based learning program designed for every child who wants to be their best! It all starts with our teachers. We hire board certified teachers to teach our Math and English classes, and prioritize qualified educators to teach our additional programs, like Abacus, Public Speaking, Creative Writing, STAAR Test Prep, Chess, etc.. No other learning center or tutoring program offers their services using a certified teacher.
We also offer Afterschool pick-up and Homework Help program, which takes that workload off of working parents’ hands and gives them a chance at quality family time after work.

What were you like growing up?
Both of us grew up in India in highly educated families. Amit’s father owned a Chemical manufacturing business and his mother was a professor. Nipa’s parents were doctors. All of them now happily retired. Growing up, education was always first priority for children in both our families. Along with that, Nipa always participated in a lot of sports activities and has learned Indian classical dance growing up. Amit’s family did not have the luxury to spend on additional extracurricular activities. He occupied himself with a lot of reading and is till date a voracious reader. He was always interested in science since early childhood and had decided to follow his father’s footsteps and be a Chemical Engineer at the age of eight.
