My insurance career began in my teenage years under the mentorship of Maria Tellez at C&A Multi-Service in Houston, TX. With her guidance, I obtained my license through the State of Texas at the age of 18, immediately after graduating high school. Since then, I have embarked on a fulfilling journey dedicated to serving our community (especially my gente Latina) through insurance services. Inspired by my parents’ values of compassion and service, I’ve committed myself to helping others navigate the complexities of insurance, providing support and solutions tailored to their needs. Throughout my career, I’ve remained grateful for the mentorship of Maria Tellez and the guidance of my parents, whose influence has shaped my dedication to making a positive impact through the insurance industry.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Embarking on my insurance career at a young age presented several challenges. Initially, navigating the complexities of the industry required overcoming a steep learning curve. Building a client base and earning trust within the community proved to be a persistent struggle, often requiring patience and perseverance. Staying abreast of ever-evolving regulations while maintaining compliance added another layer of complexity. Additionally, handling rejection and objections from clients was emotionally taxing at times, necessitating resilience and determination. Balancing work responsibilities with personal commitments posed yet another challenge, requiring a conscious effort to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Despite these struggles, with the support of mentors, family, and dedication, I persevered, ultimately growing both personally and professionally through these experiences.
