Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Saenz.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Olivia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The coffee shop originally started as Antigua in 2005. It was bought out in 2009 and turned into Pearland Coffee Roasters. In 2010, we moved to the little shop by the railroad tracks and have been there ever since!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road for our local business, especially being so close to larger competitors. We have quality coffee and the struggle was keeping up with the fast-paced environment that everyone is used to. We just kept roasting and selling exceptional products and worked really hard to create a community atmosphere. Everyone is welcome and will always be greeted as soon as they walk in the door. Focusing on that aspect of the shop really turned things around.
Pearland Coffee Roasters – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a local coffee roaster and coffee shop. We roast and bag our beans every week and offer a variety of options. Our most popular being Blackstar, a smoky blend that has been around since PCR was created. Customers are able to come in to enjoy a cup of one of our coffees or, if they prefer, a latte or tea. We also have specialty and seasonal options that change throughout the year. We really strive to create a comfortable and welcoming environment for everyone that walks in. You will always be greeted by a barista with a friendly smile. Our baristas are also very passionate about what they do and love to talk to anyone about coffee. All of our employees will do whatever they can to make sure you get something you enjoy. One of my personal favorite things to watch is seeing regular customers meet and become friends with other regulars because they see each other every day here at PCR.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Other than maybe picking a more convenient location, I don’t think there is much more we could have done differently. Our goal is to be a place where people can come in, enjoy good coffee, and feel welcomed. That is what we have done.
