Meet OluwaTosin (Tosin) Adebiyi of Mind Connection Behavioral Health

Today we’d like to introduce you to OluwaTosin (Tosin) Adebiyi.

OluwaTosin (Tosin), please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always loved caring and helping people, especially those who are going through the darkest times of their lives; so being in the mental health field is definitely what I consider a calling. I have worked in different mental health settings, both inpatient and outpatient, and it was disheartening to see how some patients were treated like numbers, |in and out of the door| with minimal to no quality of care. I felt compelled to do something. These are people that are already at their lowest. What can I do more to make them feel heard and valued without rushing them in and out of their appointment? Additionally, work and life balance has always been a priority for me. Ironically, this was an area that I struggled with the most when I was working for someone else. With that being said, I prayed and asked God to guide me and show me the plans HE has for me, and that is how I got where I am today.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I wish I could say yes, but no, it has not. I pride myself in being a great clinician/provider, however, I knew nothing about starting a business. They definitely didn’t teach me that in graduate school. The only “business” I ever had was selling candy in high school. (haha).

On a serious note, not knowing where to begin was my main struggle. I spent a lot of time doing my research to ensure I was taking the right steps. Then of course, the financial aspect. Yeah, it is true when they say you have to spend money to make money.

But you know what, looking back, I thank God for all the struggles because that’s what makes everything so rewarding.
