Today we’d like to introduce you to Pareesha Gudipaty.
Pareesha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The Pink Swan Shop was launched on April 11, 2017 in a little Houston, Texas apartment. I graduated from Houston Baptist University with a bachelor’s degree in Biology & Psychology. I then went on to pursue a career in medicine. While medical school seemed like a distant dream, I successfully completed a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences. My frustrating job hunt brought me to the decision of taking matters into my own hands and turning my passion for fashion into a reality.
Pink Swan started out as an online boutique that frequently popped up at local farmers markets and local happenings. After a year and a half, on August 4th, 2018 Pink Swan opened its doors to customers in the Historic Houston Heights District on 18th & Yale Street. We recently completed our one year at this location and cannot wait to see what this next year has in store for us.
Our mission here at The Pink Swan Shop is to make women fall in love with fashion once again! We are constantly evolving and changing our collection to meet the needs and requests of our customers. This November we can’t wait to launch our fall collection and add new arrivals to our product lines. Come visit us at our Heights location to shop fashion’s latest trends or just hang out!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In my experience I have come to learn that Business is very unpredictable. Some days are good some are bad. We too have experienced our ups and downs. Owning a brick and mortar is definitely different than just doing pop up markets. However, owning a physical location has opened our horizons and we are able to do so much more at our own pace. Slowly but surely, we are spreading our word and getting to be known by the community.
The Pink Swan Shop – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Pink Swan Shop is a women’s fashion boutique, we carry clothing, jewelry, shoes, gift items and much more. We have a vast variety of styles at unbeatable prices including handmade products from local vendors. What sets us apart is our customer service. Every customer is greeted with a smile and feel very welcomed in our shop. We always listen to our customer’s feedback and try to improve our collections among many other things. We want to make sure that every customer can find something that makes them happy and feel pretty in our shop. We love to meet new customers, get to know them and make them part of our Pink Swan family.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
On our one year anniversary, we had so many customers show up to celebrate our little milestone and that meant the world to me. I really felt that all my hard work paid off and this boutique meant something to my customers. When customers tell me that my boutique is their favorite place to shop or spend their day off, I know I’ve created something good here.
