Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Hsu.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in Short Hills, New Jersey, within a close and supportive family. Even as a young child, I knew I wanted to be a surgeon. It was my childhood inclination towards science that inspired me to pursue a career in medicine.
My training began at Rutgers College where I received my Bachelor of Science, and shortly after, my Masters in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Albany Medical College. I completed medical school at the UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and then entered the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine, which is known to be one of the most extensive and rigorous programs in the country that specialize in surgical training.
During my residency, I developed a deep empathy towards survivors of breast cancer and made the decision to devote my career towards reconstructive surgery of the breasts. My passion led me to a second fellowship in Microsurgery at the world-renowned M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, where I have remained a fellow Houstonian ever since.
In 2013, I opened my own practice in Houston, Texas, known as Memorial Plastic Surgery, where we specialize in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, breasts, and body.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Given my line of work, I encounter obstacles and challenges every day.
Every decision I make is made with the best intentions for my patients. It’s important to me that every patient gets individualized care and feels confident in all the decisions we make together.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Memorial Plastic Surgery – what should we know?
I started Memorial Plastic Surgery because this gave me the opportunity to develop a practice built around patients from all walks of life. Whether it’s for cosmetic or reconstructive purposes, we take pride in providing quality care and results to every single patient.
Memorial Plastic Surgery offers a broad range of surgical and non-surgical treatment options for both women and men, where we’re widely known for our breast reconstruction, breast augmentations, Brazilian butt lifts, liposuction, tummy tucks, and medspa services.
Together, our team of top, board-certified plastic surgeons, and dedicated staff members strive to deliver a wonderful experience to everyone that comes through our doors.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I would not be where I am today without the support of my wonderful staff and business partner Dr. Kendall Roehl. Most importantly, it’s our patients that have allowed Memorial Plastic Surgery to grow in ways I could never have imagined. The daily interactions and success stories from our patients are truly rewarding and what inspires us to do what we love.
