Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Vuong.
Dr. Vuong graduated from Western University of Health Sciences, college of dental medicine where he held various leadership positions in esteemed academic and student organizations, including vice president of the Western University Vietnamese Association and treasurer of the Delta Sigma Delta International Dental Fraternity. He was the host of the Inter-professional Multicultural Function and served as the representative speaker for the California Association of the Vietnamese American.
Today Dr. Vuong is the active vice president of the Houston Asian American Dental Society, an organization with two goals: providing dental care to the less privilege of Houston and a source of ongoing continuing education for over 500 Dentists in the Houston and Greater Houston vicinity. Recently Dr. Vuong completed a mission trip in Peru where he and a team of Dentists and Pastors set up in the center of a hand full of villages and orphanages where Oral hygiene instructions and Dental procedures were performed. Dr. Vuong’s new office is centered around community outreach.
In August of 2017 Smile Avenue Held what we hope to make an annual tradition, Cypress Smiles for Kids event. We teamed up with Cy-Hope and gathered volunteers from all over Houston and was able to see over 60 kids in the span of two days, providing oral hygiene instructions, cleanings, and preventative procedures.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest challenge has been opening this business. Paralysis by analysis was a key factor in the delayed opening of Smile Avenue. Getting everybody on board from the architects to the key members has taken over 3 years to open our doors. Our vision is a unique one. We are a philanthropic office as our needs to help others is the driving force to why we wake up to go to work. Our other passion is technology. We utilize technology to helping our patient understand their oral health and how that relates the body’s health as a whole.
