Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Yost.
Paul, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I participated in college athletics. While doing so, and bouncing around from major to major, I discovered strength and conditioning as a potential career opportunity. After speaking with my Advisor and a few Strength Coaches, it was determined it would be best for me to continue further with school. That eventually led to my enrollment at Texas A&M University to get an advanced degree. While there, I came across my first job in fitness as a Personal Trainer at Gold’s Gym. Following college, I left Gold’s to work for the Cincinnati Reds as a Strength and Conditioning Coach. After going back and forth between jobs in strength and conditioning and personal training, I made the decision to stay put in Houston and build my own business.
Has it been a smooth road?
Speaking for myself, a career in fitness hasn’t been easy. Maybe that’s just me though.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Paramount Fitness Training – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I operate my business out of Hank’s Gym. I work with regular people and athletes that may come along. Generally speaking, I train people as much like athletes as I can in a small group or one-on-one setting. I think most people will get more out of their time by training in that fashion to improve fitness and performance.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I don’t get out much, but I like that there’s so much to do. I came from a small town in Iowa and never thought I’d like big city living. Apparently, I was wrong. What I like least is probably the heat, as most people here would say. It’s still better, in my opinion, than the extreme cold I used to experience.
