Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Allen.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always had a passion for music and knew that I wanted to be involved in some kind of way. While in high school, the moment that I saw Martin the TV show, it was at that point that I knew I wanted to be in the Radio Industry. During the late ’90s, I got my start as a DJ and in 2005, I decided to finally pursue my career in Radio and interned at a local FM station here in Houston. During the years leading up to 2014, I’ve held several positions in the music industry and in radio. In 2014, I decided with the knowledge I’ve obtained in the industry that it was time to step out on faith and launch my own Radio Station 953 JAMZ. In 2019, I was given my own day in the city as well as a day in the State of Texas as well as receiving an Icon Award.
Has it been a smooth road?
During my time in the industry, it definitely has not been a smooth road. I have had to sacrifice a lot including a lot of personal time away from home and personal finances.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with 953 JAMZ – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
953 JAMZ is one of Houston’s well known Radio Station’s and we have some amazing Radio personalities. In my role as a CEO, I’m constantly looking for new ways to make the Radio Station better and I work very closely with the community as a way to give back and pave the way for new artists and future Radio personalities and DJs. I’m most proud of just how big the Station has grown within five years of existence. In my opinion, what sets us apart from other Station’s in Houston is that we believe in teaching our upcoming artists, we are constantly pushing the envelope to do what others don’t want to do. We never settle for the status quo!!

What I like best about our city is that we are constantly evolving and looking for new ways to grow.
