Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter den Boer.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Peter. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We’re Dutch and came to the US January 2016 to start a Martial Arts gym. I’ve been a Martial Artist for about 25 years and my former business partner is an American and he persuaded me to come to Houston (where he was living at that time).
Long story short, just after my wife and I came over, he bailed on us and left the country. We decided to go ahead with the gym and we opened in March 2016. Our goal is to give personalized training. We do this with one on one training or small groups up to 6 persons. We’re specialized in Krav Maga, our own developed Streetwise Self-Defense and Kickboxing. We also have 6 Weeks Get Fit Challenge. This is up to classes of not more than 14 participants. It’s a workout for 6 weeks, 3 times a week, one hour. It’s a full body workout, especially for people who want to lose weight, to get more stamina or to tone up. We only work on appointments or fixed hours. For more info you can check www.elitetrainingtx.us.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a struggle because our business partner left without notice and we were depending on him to show us the ropes how things are done here in the States. We’d to figure it out on our own.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the ELITE Training Martial Arts & Fitness story. Tell us more about the business.
Our specialty is Krav Maga, Streetwise Self-Defense and Kickboxing. Since end 2016 we also have the 6 Weeks Get Fit Challenge, which was founded by A.J. Draven, a Krav Maga black belt instructor from LA, California.
We are proud of the way we’ve helped people to lose weight and overcome injuries because of our training methods. What sets us apart is that we give everybody the personal attention they need. With us you’re not a number like in those big box gyms.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We hope to grow a bit but we don’t want to grow too much and lose sight of our main goal, to give personal attention to our customers.
